slow cooker meals for family

well ive often done a piece of topside or rump or even cubed steak and they always turn out melt in the mouth- i wasnt sure if it was possible to add the potatoes (or any pastas or rice ) too i'll try that soon i forgot to say in the beginning that i cant do any browning or starting off on the stove top as i only have a solid fuel rayburn for cooking and it makes no sense to light it at 5.30am,wait for hotplate to heat etc , thanks Big Grin

slow cooker meals for family

way back i posted some recipes for slow cookers and have recently had to come back to my trusty slow cooker due to long working hours - i am looking for simple fuss free ideas to add to my collection that i can prep the night before, turn on in morning and be greeted by the lovely aroma of a cooked meal when i return couple of my latest favourites to share mix together 2 cans of condensed chicken soup, small tub of double cream couple of large dollops of mayonnaise ,good shake of curry powder (couple tablespoons of medium i prefer) and some cubed chicken breast 4 to 8 hours medium and you have a creamy chicken curry i sometimes add peas or sweetcorn for a change another chicken one split a chicken breast and put a white pudding (oatmeal pudding) or a haggis pudding in the pocket reassemble the breast tying with string if you like place as many as you need in the slowcooker (i usually do 4 in mine) add a splash of water,( wine sherry brandy whatever tickles your fancy adds a bit of extra flavour)and turn it on again 4-8 hours on medium has anyone got a one pot recipe ie one that i can do the meat, potatoes ,veg,or pasta all in at the same time ? Can anyone help with my slow cooker

if you go to page 5 (today its on page 5 but depending how many new posts there are it may be further back) you will find loads in the slow cooker recipes post. its pretty simple to make any recipe thet you normally use to make your chillis ,curries and bolognaises ,only difference is i brown any meats or chicken first and just bung everything in, most recipes take 4-6 hours at medium in my cooker, doesnt really matter if its longer.i

slow cooker recipes

oriental honeyed pork, this is a really tasty slow cooker recipe.(amounts are for 4.5 litre cooker) cube 1kg pork fillet &toss in seasoned flour/cornflour(or iv done it with up to 6 -8 pork chops),heat oil in a pan,&fry 1 lge chopped onion & 2 crushed garlic cloves, add pork & lightly brown, add 2 chopped green peppers,8 chopped mushrooms,6 chopped tomatoes(or a can)and a big tin pineapple pieces.(keep the juice). In a jug measure 1 litre chicken stock,5 tbspns honey,3 tbspns soy sauce, mix & pour over pork in pan, blend 5 tbspns cornflour with the pineapple juice and add this to pork pan, bring to boil then transfer all this to your slow cooker and cook on medium for 5-8 hours.this sounds a bit faffy but its not ,sometimes i prepare everything the night before ready to just bring to boil in the morning, switch on and go to work.serve with rice or new potatoes and green veg.
