Charita Jones’ smoothie makes a wholesome treat for kids, a perfect non-alcoholic cocktail or a refreshing drink for a hot summer’s day

Ingredients

  • 1 mango, stone removed, roughly chopped
  • ½ small melon, seeds removed, roughly chopped
  • 1 small punnet blueberries
  • 1 small pineapple, roughly chopped (or 200g can pineapple, drained)
  • 100 ml coconut milk
  • 1 small papaya, roughly chopped (optional)
  • 1 guava fruits, roughly chopped (optional)
  • 4 passion fruit, pulp and seeds
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 5 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp clear honey
  • 500 ml cranberry juice
  • 1 tray of ice cubes (for a juice-like cocktail) or 500ml vanilla ice cream, (for a thick smoothie)

Method

1. Whiz all the ingredients except the ice cubes (or ice cream) in a blender for about a minute until smooth. You may need to do this in 2 or 3 batches depending on the size of your blender. Tip into a jug.

2. Add the ice or ice cream to the final batch to bring the smoothie to the consistency you prefer. Serve cold.
