This moreish classic favourite is easy to construct, as demonstrated by Tom Parker Bowles

Ingredients

  • salt beef
  • 2 slices soft rye bread
  • Butter
  • English Mustard
  • 1 large pickled gherkin, to serve

Method

1. Butter the slices of bread and pile the slices of salt beef over, then spread over the English mustard, to taste. Top with the second slice of bread. Slice in half and serve with the pickled gherkin on the side.

Can you buy salt beef in any of the supermarkets?

This is a great recipe but i was tought, by my mother and my grandmother that you use salt peter with salt etc. But what salt dose one use now.
A good tip is to turn the meat everyday or every other day. for one week.
