Tom Parker Bowles rustles up a treat that dates back to the 18th century - with ale and mustard, cheese on toast never tasted so good!

Ingredients

  • 400g Cheddar cheese, eg. Isle of Mull
  • 150ml ale
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • freshly ground black Pepper
  • 4 slices white bread, from uncut loaf, toasted

Method

1. In a frying pan, melt the cheese with the ale. Once melted, stir in the mustard powder and Worcestershire sauce.

2. Season with plenty of black pepper, spread onto the toast and pop under the grill until bubbling. Serve.
