Method

1. To make the stock sugar syrup, take a saucepan and bring the sugar and water to the boil, stirring occasionally. Take it off the heat once all the sugar has dissolved and you have a syrupy consistency.

2. Next hull and quarter the strawberries and set them aside in a bowl.

3. Pick the basil leaves from the stalk and add them to the bowl with the strawberries.

4. Pour the syrup over and leave to cool for 1 minute before serving.
