Martin Blunos from Good Food Bites
For a tasty, homely meal try Martin Blunos's simple recipe for baked mince and cabbage, flavoured with caraway seeds

Method

 
1. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and add the mince.

2. Cook over a high heat until coloured and cooked through, around ten minutes.

3. Add the chopped onion, caraway seeds and crushed garlic and continue cooking for a further five minutes.

4. Bring a pan of lightly salted water to the boil. Add the cabbage and cook for five minutes, then drain and allow to dry.

5. Preheat the oven to 180ºC/gas 4.

6. Off the heat, mix the cabbage into the mince mixture, season with salt and freshly ground pepper, and allow to cool.

7. Beat the eggs in a bowl, adding in the stock and cream.

8. Mix the egg mixture into the mince mixture.

9. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake for 20 minutes until lightly set.

10. Serve hot from the oven with ketchup.

1kg minced beef
1 tbsp Olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed to a paste
1 tsp caraway seeds
500g green cabbage, shredded
1 pinch salt and fresh ground black pepper
4 medium Eggs
450ml chicken stock
150ml double cream
