Mike Robinson's glazed chill beef served with a passion fruit dipping sauce makes a great, tropical-tasting starter

Ingredients

  • 150g rump steaks, finely sliced into strips
  • sweet chilli sauce, for marinating
  • chopped Coriander, for sprinkling
  • squeeze of lemon juice

For the chilli and passion fruit dipping sauce:

  • 2 passion fruit, halved
  • juice of 1 limes
  • 4 tbsp sweet chilli sauce

Method

1. Toss the beef in chilli sauce, adding it to taste. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, make the dipping sauce. Scoop out the passion fruit flesh into a bowl, add in the lime juice and chilli sauce and mix well.

3. Heat a frying pan until very hot. Add in the beef strips and fry for 2 minutes.

4. Place the dipping sauce in its bowl in the centre of a serving plate. Place the beef around the bowl, sprinkle with chopped coriander, squeeze over lemon juice and serve at once.
