  • 100g finely sliced Parma ham
  • 180g buffalo mozzarella, sliced

Method

1. Place the flour, salt, butter, warm milk, yeast and egg in a mixing bowl and mix well together to form a dough.

2. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it lightly for 6 minutes.

3. Return the dough to the cleaned-out mixing bowl and set aside to rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

4. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle, around 25 x 33cm.

5. Layer the Parma ham over the dough rectangle, then top with the mozzarella.

6. Roll up the rectangle tightly until it resembles a Swiss roll. Roll it slightly, then cut lengthways along the dough and plait the two dough lengths together.

7. Place the dough plait onto a lined baking sheet and set aside to rise for 1 hour.

8. Preheat the oven to 200°C/gas 6.

9. Bake the plait for 25 minutes until golden.
