Janet Brinkworth rustles up the classic French fried sandwich that's tasty, hot - and really hits the spot

Ingredients

  • 50g Butter
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 2-4 slices ham
  • 4 slices Gruyère cheese
  • 2 Eggs

Method

1. Butter the bread with 30g of the butter. Spread the bread with Dijon mustard and make 2 sandwiches using the ham and cheese.

2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until fluffy.

3. Heat the remaining butter in a frying pan over a moderate heat.

4. Dip the sandwiches into the beaten egg and fry on both sides until the cheese is melting and the sandwich is golden. Eat it while it's hot.
