A jaffle iron is a cast iron or aluminium cooking appliance for use over a campfire. It consists of two cupped, cast metal halves which are connected with a hinge on one side, similar to a waffle iron. Two long handles are fitted to the sides. They are found in both round and rectangular shapes.
Ingredients
Method
1. Make an outside fire and wait until the coals are hot.2. Spread one side of all twelve slices of bread with butter. Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the jaffle iron. Crack an egg in the middle of one slice, add a large spoonful of baked beans on top. Close up the waffle iron and stick in the fire for a couple of minutes. Turn and cook for another couple of minutes. Serve immediately.
3. Make two more toasted sandwiches the same way and then another 3 more replacing the baked beans with chopped-up sausages.
