Tamasin Day-Lewis's garlicky chick-pea and sesame dip couldn't be simpler to make.

Method

1. Put the chick-peas and the liquid from the cans into a food processor or blender.

2. Add the juice of 1 lemon, some garlic, the tahini, a splash of olive oil and seasoning. Whiz to a purée.

3. Check the flavour and adjust as necessary. Once you have the perfect taste and texture, scrape the hummous into a bowl.

4. Drizzle some olive oil over the top and sprinkle with a little paprika for effect.

DO NOT add the juice from the chickpeas. This makes it like a soup! I added 1/2 tin of butterbeans & a whole large jar of roasted red peppers & it still wasnt thick enough! I ended up using is as pasta sauce! NOT A GOOD RECIPE!!!
