    Craigie's Farm & Deli is a great example of modern farming entrepreneurship - innovative and fun. They have opened up their farm to the public not just to do business but to share their love of farming and the countryside. John provides a regular e-newsletter keeping up up to date with the farming calendar, invites us to enjoy walks on his farmland to appreciate the local nature and great views of the Firth of Forth, Edinburgh and the Pentlands and also hosts visits by local primary schools so they can learn about food production eg by learning about new breeds of chicken from the farm workers and cooking in the cafe kitchen using the eggs. Fantastic - this is what every farm could be doing. My mother visited Craigie's on their Open Day recently and was fascinated to learn about the modern strawberry growing methods employed at Craigie by an extremely knowledable 'berry manager' who was clearly passionate about his job. Craigie is an exemplary farming business - they deserve to win.
