I moved in to the area a year ago and I can't stop visiting this place. I've loved food shopping for years and this place is very special indeed. The quality of all the home smoked food is superb. We love the bacon so much that we had to have some the morning after we got back from hospital with our first baby. The dressed crabs from Cumbrae are the freshest we've ever tasted. All the fresh fish has been marvelous, not one duff. We had the most wonderful poached salmon and shellfish platters for our wedding party the night before, as well as super fish pies. The bread is so good we also have a spare in the freezer. We have made many people very happy with the sticky toffee pudding and its gooey sauce. Topping up with all the other things is a joy whether it's oatcakes or olive oil, or Arran Whisky or one of the wines from the great selection that includes carefully chosen full-bodied tasty Portuguese house red, Condrieus and old Chateauneufs, as well as interesting Rieslings, not to mention mouthwatering dessert wines and tawny ports. I've always been impressed with the welcome, the enthusiasm, the willingness to help and the knowledge. It's the best food shop for miles and miles around and an example to any British shop. The lobster season is just getting underway. We saw the owner getting his criels ready last week, so we'll be back next Monday to see what's in, but not before we've been back for some of the excellent home grown cabbage and apple fir potatoes. Bravo!
