I have been here several times and have been extremely delighted with every occasion. The restaurant offers several choices to suit every pallet, but also has an extremely exclusive fish and seafood menu, which is very reasonably priced and divine to eat. There is a tapas bar on at lunchtimes and certain eveings of the week and there is also an offer on 2 starters and steaks for approximately £20.00 on a Wednesday (I think, but ring up to make certain.. My goodness, it is VERY good. The restaurant runs as it should, with a very friendly waitor who obviously knows what he is doing. The place has a good atmosphere, and I would strongly recommend their home made fois gras for starter. Please go if you love your food! (The address of this place is confusing if you follow the address. It is off the roundabout towards Eighton Banks from the Washington turnoff on to the A1. Not really anywhere near chester le street! You will probably have seen it. It stands on it's own and looks quite interesting. The best way if you are coming from the A690, is to go down the highwayright to the roundabaout for springwell, but don't turn off at springwell on the right, keep going and you will see it. It is extremely recommended)

If you love cheese, you will love it here. My goodness! I have never been to a cheese factory with so much choice. I love the idea of the sampling room, which you can sample all of the cheeses before you buy. The restaurant was quite good, but I did the mistake of ordering rarebit, which was great, but after sampling and buying loads of cheese, I was a bit "cheesed out". Please visit there. The village is lovely, the factory is great. Stronly recommend!!
