I live in Bangor and this recently updated butchers has been our family butcher for as long as I can remember. It has recently undergone a complete revamp with a beautiful extension. It now includes a full butchers also selling fruit, vegetables and deli items such as local cheeses and relishes. The meat is amazing (and local) - the sirloin is dry aged for weeks and you can see the sirloins hanging through a clear glass window. Also, the source of all the meat is on Boards around the back of the room - naming the producer. A lot comes from the very local Craigantlet Hills area, local dairies, farms. They truly make the absolute best of true local produce. The meat is fresh and tastes amazing - they always help and can order certain items that they don't keep on stock. There is also now a beautiful coffee shop annexed to the butchers which has a gift shop from which you can select beautiful items. The coffee shop sells beautiful fresh scones, and the hot food is delicious and moreish. Truly this butcher has become a Saturday meeting place and a true champion of local produce... Today when I called the queue was right out the front door!!!

This is local, fresh, seasonal and o so so so fine produce!! It is a perfect advertisement for what fine Northern Irish soils can produce. These people are dedicated and passionate. They have a beautiful website that details their basis...they have a strong ethos and encourage all things local. A true gem.

This restaurant is in my hometown - and I love it - nestled in a cobbled building right at the sea-front this is undoubtedly a true gem!! The produce is fresh, local, fantastically coked and the varied menu caters for all - yet is far from the usual run of the mill food often preferred by restaurants who like to play it safe. They also have an amazing stall at the Bangor Fairs which are held in the marquees - and whci hthey sell some of their delightful produce...the marinated goats cheese leaves me speechless - I must buy about 5 boxes every time they have this on sale!! If in Bangor (or even if you're not, this place is well worth the trip!!) You'd be depriving yourself of pleasure if you passed it by!!
