Recipe Story

My Dad made these every weekend. Tarty tomatoes are made by adding strong Tea, no milk or suger !!, which when reduced give the tomatoes a tart taste with a hint of tanning

Servings:

Ingredients


2 tins of chopped tomatoes
Ground black pepper
Good slug of Tabasco, to taste
Couple of shakes of Worchester Sauce
1 Tea Bag
slices of thick wholemeal bread

Method


Empty 2 tins of chopped tomatoes into a frying pan.
Ad a generous amount of ground black pepper, no salt its already in the tinned toms.
Add a generous shake of Tabasco, to taste and a good few shakes of Worcester sauce.
Brew a strong mug of tea, leave it to stand for a few minutes, DO NOT ADD MILK OR SUGAR
Pour into the tomatoe mixture and stir well
Cook over a moderate heat for 20 mins or until the mixture has reduced by two thirds
The mixture will now be like a thich sauce
Toast your wholemeal bread and spread on a thick coating and eat while hot. Sharp , tangy and tart with a hint of tanning
