Georgettes Lahme bou sahen (Syrian Meatloaf)

Recipe Story

My mother learnt this dish from her mother while growing up in Damascus and has passed it onto to me. It's a very simple dish to make and very tasty.
It goes superbly with pitta bread & a cos lettuce salad & glass of your favourite white wine.

Ingredients


1.5 Kilo pork mince
6 medium sized tomatoes
3 large onions
3 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp salt
as much cracked black pepper as you like.

Method


1. place pork mince in bowl.
2. grate onion by hand on course side of grater.
3. add to mince
4. add cinnamon, salt & pepper.
5. mix all together with your hands until you are sure all it has all mixed in.
6. place into a pyrex dish 20cm x 20cm & pat down.
7. cut tomatoes in half and place cut side down equally on top.( if you're feeling adventurous and you want to make a larger amount you can use cherry toms and sink them into the mince).
8. cook in pre heated oven (fan assisted 175 for 45 mins).
Salad~1 cos lettuce cut up. salt,pepper and juice of 1 lemon.
pitta~ toasted cut into quarters.

ps. chips made with Cyprus pots are a must with this meal.
