Recipe Story

this dish is cooked by my mum and was given to her from her mum i am a cool in a cafe and we sell alot and if i was to have a last meal this would be it

Ingredients


1 large onion
900g self raising flour
250g beef suet
pinch of salt
big pinch of dried sage
water to make into a pastry
12 rashers of back bacon

Method


fry onion till light brown nad cool
mix flour ,suet ,salt and sage together with the water untill you get a pasty you can roll out
cover with fried onions and then cover with the bacon and roll up like a swiss roll wrap in cling film and then in kichen foil loosely but sealed and steam for 1,1/2
hours unwrap and slice serve with mash and vegtables some like onion gravy but i like brown sauce and enjoy mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

This is not the authentic Marguerite Patten recipe (which I found in a second-hand cookbook in 1962). That was delicious and is the one reported by the lady...
