Recipe Story

This recipe has been passed down from Mother to Daughter through the generations learned through watching in the kitchen while your grannie cooked it. Jean although retired still makes it for everyone, the pie has travelled the whole of the country she makes it for everyone it is the most delicious and impressive pie yet not expensive to make.

Ingredients


Homemade Puff Pastry
Shoulder steak, must be cut thin
sausages (links)
homemade gravy
egg or milk to glaze
seasoning.

Method


make pastry as normal
cut steak into bit size normal chunks
boil in water with sausages and clear scum, when meat is tender
make up gravy allow to cook for 2/3 hours.
remove from heat, put into a pie dish, allow to cool slightly add pastry over top with a double layer at edge, brush with milk/egg mixture to stick, crimp and cut a pattern neatly on top, cut hole in centre to allow steam to come out (if you have a steam funnel - better) put in a high oven until pastry is golden and light.
