Recipe Story

Had the original beef dish at a street fair. Came home and experimented with different flavours and came up with this.

Servings:

Serves 4

Level of difficulty:

Intermediate

Ingredients

1 large onion
2 cloves garlic
500g cooked beef, minced or finely chopped.
1 tablespoon coriander seeds
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon black pepper corns
1 red chilli, finely chopped
1 bunch coriander
250 grams frozen peas
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon oil

Method

1. Toast coriander, cumin and black pepper in dry frying pan. when toasted crush in pestle and mortar.
2. Chop onion and garlic, fry in oil until soft.
3. Add beef, spice mix, chilli, peas, soy sauce, fish sauce and cook until the meat is warmed through and the peas are cooked. approx five minutes.
3. Serve with noodles and naan bread.

I call this three ways beef as it is also great as a pizza topping with mozerella and pepperdew peppers, or made into pasties and eaten cold.

Nice beefy taste. Not at all asian tasting. Couldn't be easier to make. This is a good way to put a spare pound of mince to good use.
