View all reviews (5)I discovered this real butchers when I first moved here 5 years ago. Everything purchased is of first class quality and you always get personal, friendly service fromthe family, Nothing is too much trouble for them. They buy the animals and slaughter them at the rear of the shop in a purpose buit slaughter house. This means that the beasts are not stressed in any way when they go to slaughter and the meat is then hung for the requisite length of time. I have never been disappointed with any meat which I have purchased from them. Visit them and be prepared to be blown away by the quality of the meat they sell
We discovered this local butchers after living in the area for nearly a year. The service is always fantastic, it is such a delight in this day and age to find a shop where you are welcomed by name and service is always with a smile. The meat is second to none and all sourced locally and killed in the abatoir attached to the shop. We have vowed never to eat supermarket meat again.
Consistently wonderful high quality meat and excellent "old fashioned" levels of customer service. Excellent knowledge of the provenance of the meat with most meat being sourced from local farms and slaughtered locally, or by the owner himself. It's really refreshing to encounter a business where time honoured knowledge and butchery skills not only survive, but thrive.
We discovered this wonderful place one New Year's Eve when my husband phoned up for a rack of lamb, not realizing that the shop had already shut. Mr Wasteney did not let on, but opened up the shop especially for us and sold us the first of many delicious pieces of meat. We have been converts since then, and always shop here. We would not dream of buying meat elsewhere. Just today I discovered that they also sell fantastic local freshly laid eggs at a fraction of the price in supermarkets. We are always made to feel really welcome when we shop here, we feel like old friends now, and as I am completely clueless about cooking I often have to rely on their advice about what cut I need. A truly wonderful establishment, superb meat, friendly helpful service A***
All the meat sold is home killed and tastes absolutely wonderful!! I cannot think of a poor cut of meat I have bought from here I have not enjoyed immensley. In particular, the pork chops are to die for and the home made black pudding is fantastic. The prices are very reasonable, cheaper than buying meat prepackaged from a supermarket and much better value for money. The service from the staff is always warm and friendly and very helpful for someone like me who is a novice at weights and cuts of meat - the staff always give sound advice for the benefit of the customer, not just for the business; you trust and rely on their opinion. Since moving to Grenoside and shopping at C. Wasteney and Sons I have been converted to only buying meat from here and would NEVER buy meat from a supermarket again.
