Every meal I've ever had at the Elephant's End has always been perfect, Elaine is an amazing cook and I would recommend this restaurant to everybody who comes to Tiree.

There doesn't seem to be so many pleasure yachts sail to Tiree and stay long, but I'm just back from several days there, and enjoyed several meals at Elephants End. If more yachties knew of this restaurant, there'd be more heading for Tiree. The island is very welcoming, but Elaine is even more-so. The food was excellent. I'll be back.

There doesn't seem to be so many pleasure yachts sail to Tiree, but if they knew what the food was like at this place, there'd be more! Over several days, ate several times there, and thoroughly enjoyed good wholesome home-cooked food. Home baked bread, fresh each day accompanying meals. This place is a must eat!

Very tasty wholesome food, great athmosphere and great service. All that despute a location on a windswept beach on an island 3 1/2 hours ferry from Oban! I am definitely going every time I'm on Tiree.

It is refreshing nowadays to find a restauranteur who makes everything from scratch. From starters to desserts, everything is delicious and comfortingly home made, no freezer food for Elaine. The relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff make dining at the Elephants End a wholey enjoyable experience. It's always our first stop to book a table when we come off the ferry to make sure we can get in at some time during our stay.

Elephants End is my favourite restaurant. When I come to Tiree it is the first place I go. Elaine and her team are professional, warm and welcoming, and the menu is down to earth at the same time as being creative, tasty, beautifully presented and plentiful! There are all sorts of extra bits and pieces, too, which are slipped in quietly and make you feel spoiled and taken care of. Consistency in standards can be hit and miss in restaurants and here, again, Elaine gets 100% - both in the food and personal service, and in the imagination and variety of her menus. I have seen EE go from strength to strength and each time I visit, there is something new, different and better than before.

Elaine is a brilliant, understanding and caring boss that makes very delicious food. She puts a lot of hard work into the restaurant, with a 7 day a week dedication which is very rare nowadays and strives to make sure each and every customer is happy and full when they leave, ensuring return visits! :)

We have just returned from our first visit to Tiree -unfortunately the reputation of Elephant's End is such that we were unable to secure a booking for an evening meal but we did manage a lunch and it was excellent with warm and friendly staff who accomodated us even tho they were preparing for a private party at the time. If we manage another trip to Tiree we will be making our dinner booking at Elephant's End before we leave Edinburgh.

The many times I have visited Elephants End, I have never been dis-satisfied. The service is friendly, relaxed yet efficient. The food itself is absolutely fantastic and the portions are exremely fair and never excessive, just right. I am looking forward to my trip to the island and I can honestly say that Elephants End is the first place I will be heading for when I get off the boat.

I would just like to say if ever in Tiree, a visit to Elephants End is a must, You will not taste a meal like Elaine makes anywhere else on the island. You get a freshly cooked meal in ample portions and if you manage to have a desert....wow

My wife and I visited this place in Sept '07 and loved it. Sometimes the 2nd visit to a restaurant doesn't have the same impact, but that definitely wasn't the case when we returned - twice! - in June '08. As stated by other reviewers, the menu changes daily and the restaurant has a byob policy with no corkage charge. The menu isn't overly extensive, but that doesn't mean it's easy to choose, as the choices are so mouth-watering. We were surprised and delighted at the complimentary veg, grape and dip platter which was a lovely touch whilst perusing the menu. The food was always excellently cooked and served and although the dishes would have a familiar sound, the chef always managed to give them an individual twist. I cannot reccommend the Elephant highly enough, but a word of warning! PLEASE remember to book as it is extremely popular and seats only about 28.

Elephants End is second to none. With a fantastic views around it still has so much more to offer. The food, hospitality and service are all fantastic, warm and inviting. I cannot say enough to praise Elaine (the owner) who makes all the delicious food from scratch from local produce. It's a winner and a must visit place.

Hospitality second to none and highly recommended for good honest cooking

Special because: >Elaine Hutchinson does all the cooking and does it very well: from the bread (different kinds) in the morning to the chutneys and jams. >The evening menu changes every evening. >When you sit down a complimentary platter of vegetables and a dip is brought immediately to the table. The plate of different breads (and butter) came with the first course and was generous. >The fresh halibut which one of us had was memorable. >The vegetables were appetising and served in a separate dish. On the second occasion when we mentioned that the portions were too generous, we were told politely that the chickens would benefit. > Apart from the high quality of the produce and the cuisine, it was also byo with no cover charge. Highly recommended

IT IS UNIQUE IN THE FACT THAT THIS RESTAURANT IS TO BE FOUND ON A HEBRIDEAN ISLAND SERVING FOOD WAY SUPERIOR TO LARGER ESTABLISHMENTS ON THE MAINLAND. HOW ? MAKE EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH, BUY LOCAL WHEN POSSIBLE, HOME MADE BREAD, CAKES, SOUPS, AND THE MAIN COURSES? DELICIOUS ! PUDDINGS WOW!! AND THE SERVINGS ARE MORE THAN AMPLE, THROW IN GOOD STAFF, NICE ATMOSPHERE, AND DEDICATION, AND THERE YOU HAVE IT !!! UNIQUE... ( our prized asset )

Elephants End is a fanatsic dining experience, with traditional Scottish and home-made dishes that are the highlight of a visit to the Isle of Tiree. Elaine, the owner, makes virtually everything from scratch in her kitchen and it is served straight from the oven to your table. This is what true wholesome food should be like.. fantastic quality and I guarantee, like me, you will keep returning.
