We've been going to Rob Royd since the day it opened and have never been disappointed with any purchase. The meat is fantastic either coming from Robs own farm which is less than a mile away (no worrying about food miles here)or sourced from other local farms all of whom Rob knows very well...if it's not his meat he will tell you whose and where there are from. The butcher is always on site and if you can’t see the cut you want just ask they are very accommodating...nothing seems too much trouble. You can’t beat the bacon or his own sausage anywhere, and their own pies are great (they have their own baker as well, based at the shop), packed with filling and very short light pastry; some of the best we've ever had and his range of breads, cakes, cheeses, deli products are unbeatable. Although the shop is dominated by the large fridges packed with goodies don’t forget to have a good look around the large range of preserves, (very) fresh veg, snacks etc many Yorkshire produced. The shop is always well stocked, spotlessly clean and the staff very knowledgeable and friendly...you will always find Robs cheerful face running around behind the counter every day making sure everyone leaves happy. Our little girl loves the place, from picking the eggs herself and boxing them up (again the eggs are from Rob’s farm) to raiding the small plates of fresh bread and butter, and cheese, dotted around the counters. We always leave with hot pork sandwiches, very tasty! Thoroughly recommend a visit to Rob Royd.

It is great to find an outlet which produces such tasty breads that are free from chemical additives. The granary is to die for - smoothered with butter! My husband suffers from gluten intolerance and loves their spelt bread and gluten free sausage. The staff are friendly and helpful.

My wife and I make regular trips to Rob Royd Farm shop and we live 45 miles away in York. The bread is out of this world and the choice of meat is truely amazing. We have nothing like this in York and therefore feel it is worth every penny to travel this distance and discover perfection. (even in this time of high fuel prices) We believe we have found a true oasis of fresh produce competitively priced with the benefit of helpful staff to give excellent dietary advice. Ramsey would be humbled on entering this fine establishment!!

This place is fantastic. The range of food for sale is great, and reasonably priced. Their cured bacons are some of the nicest we have ever had, even my 6 year old will eat them, without any fuss! The staff are friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble. The bread and cakes are terrific and really "Home made".

All goods I have purchased from Rob Royd have been remarkable. The meat has been outstanding quality. People who come around for dinner have commented on it so makes an average cook a better one without any extra effort. My father whose name can be found under fussy in the dictionary has not rejected a single item of meat, bread or pies. I have not purchased meat from supermarkets for many years and in all of my sourcing throughout the region, this farm shop is the one I am going to stick with.

As a veggie, I enjoy the great fruit & veg - many of which are locally produced - the cheese section and the remarkable bread (except, of course, the black pudding bread (!) which my hubby adores. The rest of the family are carnivores, and they rave about the meat & poultry, etc. That's fine by me - the animals are at least free-range and locally raised. Shops like Rob Royd are important in the fight against the cruel squalor of intensive farming, and against the tyranny of the supermarket chains! Robert and his staff are always friendly and well-informed. I'd recommend the shop to anyone.

Rob Royd Farm Shop definately has the best Pork Pies in Yorkshire. I call into the shop on a Saturday and get a pie at around 12pm when they come straight out of the oven. They are the best. I will be torn next week though, because they now sell Hot Roast Pork sandwiches, freshly made on the premises! 5* Vote from me!!!

A fantastic Farm Shop with local produce, the meat is off their own farm or local. The Meat is gorgeous as are the pies they make with it. The pastry melts in your mouth and they are very filling. The Fresh Bread they make daily is gorgeous and does not include any additive or preservatives. They have a lovely fruit and veg selection and their deli serves some lovely cooked meats, cheese and olives.
