The loving and care gets into the food somehow, there is a real sense of humor among the staff, but it is not a frivolous attitude. The work is done responsibly and it is also great fun. The manager is lovely, she works very hard and her enthusiasm for making great food spreads to everyone, staff and customers alike. She is also very modest about her own abilities, and encourages everyone to find out what they can do well and develop their skills.

The best sourdough bread that can be had in Scotland, and possibly in the UK! The range of breads, cakes, pastries, pizza and all kinds of other tasties is amazing. What's more it is a real asset to the whole community, providing meaningful work for all concerned .... it's really a labour of love and the food is imbued with it.

It is unique. The service from everyone who works in the Bakery is welcoming and efficient, they are always pleased to see their customers and have a chat. The quality of the bread/cakes/pizzas is second to none and always freshly baked from the finest locally sourced and organic ingredients.

Newton Dee is a place where individuals can develop to their full potential, and lead meaningful lives. Those with learning disabilities are well supported by their co-workers, and are able to work on the organic farm, make bread in the bakery, produce handmade toys and furniture, and sell goods in the shop and tearoom. This is done with good grace and humility - providing meaningful tasks for life. It's a wonderful place.

What makes this place special? The people, the food - the hand made bread is to die for, the friendliness, the innovative menu, the quality of produce. The fact they use local home grown produce means freshness and flavour are of the highest standard! Top class and highly recommended.
