Middlemay Lamb

Farm shop

Selling: Meats

Middlemay lambs are home-bred and naturally reared. They stay with their mothers and are milk-fed for at least 5 months, living outdoors grazing contentedly on grassland which has been permanent pasture for over 200 years. The feeds include oats and turnips, home-grown and organically produced without the aid of artificial fertilisers or crop sprays.

Middlemay lamb is beautifully tender and full of flavour; the quality is always excellent and it is the tastiest Northumberland lamb you can buy. I buy two half-legs per month from their stall at the Newcastle Farmer's Market and over the past couple of years I have struck up a good friendship with Carron Craighead who runs the business from the family farm. She invited me and my family to the farm to see the lambs just after Easter this year and it was fantastic to see how well they are looked after; their lambing stalls, their careful farm husbandry and the animals roaming the lush pasture. We also got an insight into the careful selection of the three breeds used on the farm to create the best quality meat. Carron has invested a lot of time and effort into producing first class organic lamb; it helps support the farm overall and supplies the best meat possible to her customers. You really can't buy better.
