Townings farm is a traditional low weald family farm in the rural village of Chailey, East Sussex. Famous for their giant Halloween pumpkins, they also produce a whole range of other products including Hebriddean lamb, beef and pork, which are sold from their small shop on Fridays and Saturdays. All of their produce comes from traditional breeds of cattle, sheep and pigs, reared using natural and organic methods. The vegetables sold by Townings Farm are all grown on the farm to ensure quality and traceablitiy and are usually sold on the same day that they are picked.

View all reviews (6)the meat that they rear themselves and sell is lovely - you can really taste the difference! The beef, pork and lamb (both Hebridean and Southdown), bacon, gammon, sausages and beefburgers made from their own meat, all tastes great. They also sell their own vegetables in season and various local cheeses, chutney, jam and honey and have recently added yummy icecream tubs to their range. We are always made welcome and Carole always finds the time to stop and chat and show us the latest arrival of pigletts and lambs. She obviously has a great love for her animals and the result is great tasting meat!
All the meat they sell is from the farm as are the vegetables. They sell Ready Meals from the Intolerable Food Co. which uses their meat. They also sell local produce which includes Aunty Val`s home made chutney and preserves, cheese from the High Weald Dairy, organic yogurt from Plaw Hatch and Southdowns butter.
Really friendly people who care about their animals and the meat is delicious. So are the eggs. Have also tried the local cheeses which are very good.
The meat is delicious and we also particularly like the just picked vegetables. The eggs have a real flavour and it is a pleasure to come here each week to see what is available.
Well , perhaps most importantly the meat is delicious and it's not exorbitant. But they are also friendly and hepful, and you get a reall impression that they care about their animals. They have a hebridean lamb called Twiggy who thinks she is a dog. Although Twiggy must be getting to sheep status by now! I used to order my meat from Donald Russell. Now I buy it from here.
They rear all the meat that they sell and their Hebridean Lamb is absolutely gorgeous !! They sell beef, pork and lamb (both Hebridean and Southdown), bacon, gammon, sausages and beefburgers made from their own meat. They also sell their own vegetables in season and various local cheeses, chutney, jam and honey. They take a real pride in the welfare of their animals and use a small local abbatoir for their stock.
