Beef Direct Ltd

Butcher

Selling: Meats

Beef Direct are passionate about producing great tasting meat; specialising in Welsh black beef, which they hang for at least 21 days before butchering for a greater flavour. Their sales are made by mail order and over the farm gate as well as at farmers’ markets where you can additionally purchase their hand-made sausages and dry cured Anglesey bacon and gammon. They also organically rear pedigree black Welsh mountain sheep: their lambs are smaller and therefore produce a sweeter taste; these are available at the end of August, though they keep another breed of early spring lambs as well.

Excellent beef and lamb - have never bought nor eaten better. The minced lamb makes the best shepherd's pie ever, and the rump steak grilled is the tastiest and tenderest. The prices are affordable and the service is second to none. Bought at Ashton-U-Lyne farmers market.

I buy my beef and lamb joints, plus black beef sausages and pork sausages from Brian and Ffiona, every month at the New Ferry Farmers Market. They are the friendliest people you could ever meet and their produce is fantastic. I love to cook their brisket long and slow over a low heat, and serve it for our Sunday roast. It puts supermarket beef in the shade, because it is succulent and full of flavour.
