Whistlers

Café

Selling: Drinks, Home-Cooked Dishes

Founded from a desire to provide customers with fresh, non-GM foods, Whistlers has a seasonally variable range of sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Breakfast boxes include Bircher muesli, granola, and yoghurt pots; paninis and wholemeal or white bread baguettes come with a range of meat, vegetarian and fish fillings; home made muffins and cakes vary daily, from Green & Blacks triple chocolate muffins to St Clement’s cakes; and a selection of snacks such as natural crisps from Devon, or freshly made ice-cream milkshakes are on offer at Whistlers. Special diets are catered for, with a low GI and low carb range available, and sandwich chefs are happy to oblige with individual requests, provided the ingredients are in stock. A unique blend of fresh coffee is sold, alongside a selection of tea blends and a rich hot chocolate, with only organic milk used in all drinks. Fresh food is guaranteed on a daily basis, as anything unsold by the evening is given to a local charity.

The staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The food is fresh and tasty. It is very clean and I recommend it wholeheartedly

Despite having all the chain coffee shops here in Fleet, this is our only choice for coffee. It is a great place for a drink and a snack and the staff are all lovely. Nothing seems too much trouble and you feel valued as a customer. The only down side is that it could be bigger to get more tables in !!

The whole family love this place. The staff are very friendly and the home-made food fabulous. The gingerbread is so melt-in-the-mouth and I could eat the Swiss Bircher Muesli any time of day. Whistlers is way ahead of any of the local competition. Generally I'm a non-coffee drinker but I can't resist their latte. Whistlers certainly deserves to win the vote.

This place is a gem! The service is amazing, food is delicious and the coffee is out of this world! Love the range of fresh produce and hand picked coffee. Can't find a single fault. Keep up the good work guys and good luck!

By far the best coffee in Fleet and we have plenty of choices. Yummy food, always fresh. Friendly staff. Never change

Frankiew1 Frankiew1 Posted 13 Aug 2007 1:28 PM

It is special because it has the best coffee if Fleet and it is consitant. The home made cakes are delicious and made on the premises every day. Although there are a number of other coffee shops in Fleet I would always go to Whistlers as they make coffee the way I like it and it is never bitter of too strong. I also like the fact that the baguettes and paninis on are made fresh every day ant not kept for sale the next day, if you can't see what you want or have any suggestions for new foods they will try their best to accommodate you. I think they deserve to be given an award for the best new coffee shop in Fleet, serving the best home-made cakes and snacks.

The coconut and lime muffins are favourites, as are the crumble slices, and gingerbread. Their service is always friendly and accomodating.

jan1ne jan1ne Posted 10 Aug 2007 6:12 PM

Their Chai tea is the best and the quality of food good compared with the other café's in Fleet. Prices are reasonable too. Just wish they can extend the premises. We'll be back!

Very welcoming staff, always friendly and chatty. The coffee is the best in the area and the complimentary coffee beans are a nice touch. Starbucks has opened across the road....they could take some tips from Whistlers as the Whistlers 'experience' is far better. I just hope they're not consumed by the large brands nearby, as they deserve to be successful.

Always a warm welcome from all the staff. The coffee is fab and I love the little chocolate coffee beans that are complementary. The G&B chocolate muffins are to die for. This is one of my favorite haunts at least 3 times a week for a sit down, relax and a good coffee in nice surroundings. I have met lots of other 'regulars' and had some nice conversations. Highly recommended. Tracy

Superb food. We went with our 3 year old and couldn't have been made more welcome. Thanks so much!

These guys are so obviously product & service first, and deserve to do very well indeed. A pleasure to be a customer.

The milkshakes are awesome, so refreshing, you can taste the quality with these guys, well done, and keep it up

I'd second the biscotti comment - beautiful reinvention.

roger19 roger19 Posted 25 Jul 2007 12:20 PM

Really loved the pecan biscuits, and the home made biscotti. I'd forgotten what real ones taste like! Top marks.

andrew26 andrew26 Posted 22 Jul 2007 11:43 AM

What a pleasant change to the usual!

graham31 graham31 Posted 21 Jul 2007 9:04 AM

Great food, excellent coffee and friendly staff!!

Seema1 Seema1 Posted 18 Jul 2007 10:00 AM

I can only echo the other reviews! Forget the national/international chains and their bland offerings - try the real thing! The coffee here is the best I have found on a high street and is served by knowledgable and enthusiatic staff. The food, be it sweet or savoury, is also fantasic and more than reasonably priced for that level of quality and freshness. A definite stop for me each time I am in Fleet.

Jetnoise Jetnoise Posted 17 Jul 2007 10:24 AM

Fab food, the best coffee anywhere and friendly staff make this the best shop I have every visited - why would anyone want to eat the mass produced junk from the large outlets with their surly staff when you could visit Whistlers ? I'm thick but even I understand that one - FAB !

babe bateson babe bateson Posted 16 Jul 2007 4:24 PM

Well worth a go, friendly staff, wholesome food at a great price. Would definately recommend.

Gruffa10 Gruffa10 Posted 16 Jul 2007 4:09 PM

A great business, which not only sells good quality food with a smile but is ethically sound by donating food to charity daily and supporting the environment. This is the way forward!!

foodman1 foodman1 Posted 16 Jul 2007 11:42 AM

Local fare, and it's excellent too! Whistlers really puts the competition to shame. Champion!!

clobbasaurus clobbasaurus Posted 16 Jul 2007 11:18 AM

The chocolate muffins are to die for so put off that diet until tomorrow!

JulesGarner JulesGarner Posted 16 Jul 2007 10:33 AM

We happened to be passing and fancied a coffee. The food looked so good, we ended up eating as well! Excellent place, wish there were more places like this.

Frosta Frosta Posted 14 Jul 2007 11:15 PM

Friendly staff, fine fayre, take the weight off your feet for a while.

Mike1900 Mike1900 Posted 14 Jul 2007 11:47 AM

Amazing coffee, fresh, home-made food and freindly staff. Great place!

Charlotte11 Charlotte11 Posted 13 Jul 2007 3:54 PM

This place is head and shoulders above the rest ... why would you want the mass-produced rubbish from the so-called big names when you can have this ... fresh and well-presented ... and coffe to due for!!!

DAVE07 DAVE07 Posted 13 Jul 2007 12:50 PM

I can't resist a visit to Whistlers every time I'm in town. The coffee is out of this world and should be shared with the rest of the UK! The food is excellent and all the ingredients, bread and fillings are always fresh. Service is friendly (always with a smile), informative (the staff are very enthusiastic about their produce) and efficient. Whistlers is a rare establishment in that it provides high quality food and drinks at a reasonable price in a friendly atmosphere. We need more places like this!

FoodBoy55 FoodBoy55 Posted 13 Jul 2007 12:36 PM

I really enjoy the home made versions on the mass produced rubbish we usually see. Home made original Gingerbread, and home made Biscotti in various flavours are the fave. My wife loves the banoffee pies. Please keep it up! p.s Genuinely the best coffee I've tasted on the high street - when are you going to sell it by the bag for us at home!?

Ninja2 Ninja2 Posted 13 Jul 2007 10:37 AM

Whistlers - not only looks good, the staff always go the extra mile & the food is without doubt the best I have had from any cafe in a long while - You just have to try the coconut & lime muffins or perhaps the triple choc or perhaps just about anything in there you won't be disappointed.

BAM99 BAM99 Posted 13 Jul 2007 10:36 AM

Nice change from the usual bland offerings from the chains. Good service and an obvious effort to stand above the mundane. Good fresh food.

What struck me most about Whistlers is the extraordinary drive to succeed. A truly memorable experience.

I visited whistlers when I was passing through Fleet some weeks ago. Great people, passionate about every aspect of their business...and the best latte.

ASJ1 ASJ1 Posted 12 Jul 2007 9:16 PM

A regular stop for lunch and a real pleasure. Decent friendly service on the high street at long last, and just genuinely good ingredients and flavours. The coffee is proper proper stuff and they've got a good range of decent teas. My faves are the paninis - proper freshly baked bread, and an interesting range - and their homemade gingerbread. A definite cut above the rest.

Peter Harrison Peter Harrison Posted 07 Jul 2007 3:25 PM

Top quality coffee, and superb sandwiches! The bread is freshly baked on the premises, the contents are plentiful, fresh and of a premium quality. Even the mayonnaise is freshly made. This independent outfit knocks the socks off the chain offerings! On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this bunch an 11.
