Martin's Jerked Meat

Selling:

Martin's Jerked Meat began around medieval times, its reenactments to be exact; in a bid to avoid the bland and repetitive fare served at these shows, Martin would make his own foods to bring along, jerky included. These creative preservative-free, air-dried jerkies of locally-reared meats were coveted by many, and he soon found himself selling them at summer shows and festivals. Today Martin and his family supply to stalls all over the locale, and reaches as far as New York, USA. No jerky is the same - from those fashioned out of present-day ingredients to historically-inspired and historically-accurate recipes (he recreated explorers Lewis and Clark’s) – although all meats are butchered, marinated and dried in their own workshop.

Martin & Sue are a great couple, who's service is great. They cater for meat lovers and also veggies. They have a wide range of products to choose from which makes choosing all that much harder. We love both the meat and the fruit leathers, both are made from all natural ingredients with no added anything. Good luck both, rooting you all the way.

Martin & Sues products have gone from strength to strength since starting out on this enterprise. My wife and I were responsible for naming the fruit jerky as Fruit Scrolls when first introduced. This families success has been phenominal, we hope it continues after all the hard work they have endured to make it a success.

Martin and Suzi use only the best produce to produce a great range of great tasting healthy snacks. My son really loves the scrolls and regularly takes them to school

Debs Baker Debs Baker Posted 01 May 2008 10:02 AM

Martin and Suzi make fantastic jerky and fruit scrolls, amongst a great variety of other things. The Thai chilli jerky is to die for as is the pemmican. They are innovative and continually ask for feedback and ideas from customers. The range just gets wider and wider and some of the combinations of flavours sound wierd but they work!!!

I discovered Martins Jerked Meats at Disc World. The whole family was mighty impressed. As good as anything we get in Oz. Worth coming on holiday for.

We met Martin and Suzi again at the Festival of History at Kelmarsh. My favourite addition tot the range was the Turksih Delight Fruit leather.

At the recent Discworld event my husband just couldn't get enough of the jerky . I managed to get some bits off him and it is great.

The first time i tried jerky was at the recent Discworld event and the JD jerky was wonderful with beer and conversation thru a long cold night.

I tried some of Martins Spicy and Jack Daniels Jerky this weekend at the Discworld Jamboree in Wincanton and though it tasted excellent. I love the way the heat builds up slowly releasing all the lovely flavours.

100% superb! The imaginative ingrediants make Martin's products pretty much unique. Excellent tastes all round, both the meat and non-meat versions. The Fruit sheets are a brilliant idea, and the wonderful people themselves are worth going to meet at their stall. TOTALY RECOMMENDED, and the website has been bookmarked as a favourite!

It is sooooo wonderful to find a food business which thinks equally of its vegetarian customers. Oh and the Chilli Toffee is to die for - my fridge is full of it at the moment!

Cathy Bluecat Cathy Bluecat Posted 07 Aug 2007 10:23 AM

The redwine and cracked pepper tofu was probably my favourite. Mind you the Thai Chilli was nice and then of course there was the Jack Daniels Teryaki. Oh all right it's all fantastic stuff. Website is now a favourite and orders will be heading their way on a regular basis Iwouldn't be at all surprised.

Martin & Suzi are unfailingly inventive, committed to using local produce and above all highly entertaining. Martin's Jerked Meat is far superior to any other form of jerky I've come across in this country!

Willbo1 Willbo1 Posted 21 Jul 2007 11:10 AM

We met the gang at a bike rally, the jeky tasted great and so did the fruit scrolls. It is very hard to make a decision as to what to buy as it all tastes really great. Very handy to take with you when you are camping or just riding your motorbike as it takes up very little space and fills you up.

Black Panther1 Black Panther1 Posted 16 Jul 2007 6:43 PM

Where Martin and Suzi dream up some of their food flavours is a mystery but they really work. I really love his website too. Really amusing

Tony88 Tony88 Posted 15 Jul 2007 9:35 PM

We go to many of the reenactments and our first job is to see if we can find Suzi and Martin. We buy from the internet but it is much better if we can find them at shows as we get to sample all the new flavours. The latest we tried at Tewksbury was Goat. it is mindblowing! absolutely amazing. Highly recommended

Lady Jane1 Lady Jane1 Posted 13 Jul 2007 11:04 AM

Great flavours, very unusual combinations. Handy for taking on biking holidays as it is light and easy to pack and you can eat as you go.

Robbo7 Robbo7 Posted 13 Jul 2007 10:56 AM

The very British take on the American favourite of Jerky, really went down well. The flavours are fantastic, and I loved the twist of humour on the packaging. The fruit strips were wonderful, with a very strong taste, and I really wanted to come back for more. Good luck with the business, Martin and Sue (and of course Daisy!), I`ll see you soon, to get more!

I have samples Martins jerky and scrolls at a couple of re-enactment events now and they are always exellent for popping in your pouch and happily muching while you are wandering around. I'm also won over by Martins pure entheusiansm for his product and willingness to give you a sample (knowing full well that once tasted, you're hooked!). Good luck with the competition.

Talbot1 Talbot1 Posted 10 Jul 2007 9:53 AM

The quality of the food - the red wine & black pepper jerky was awesome, and the dried beef teriyaki ... well, I will never buy 'jerky' from a supermarket again now I know I can buy quality beef from Martin & Co! Also, the Banana, raisin & Cinnamon fruit scroll was gorgeous. I wish I had bought more that one. In fact, i think I'll go & order some more now!

Hweorfa Hweorfa Posted 09 Jul 2007 10:03 PM

The unusual nature of their products and the fact that everytime I see them they have something new and equally wonderful that I never even suspected was possible. Best example - chilli fudge. Mmmmmmmm!

'Bert, CARDBOARD makes broccoli seem interesting...tastes nicer than it, too. The jerkies that Martin, Suzi and daisy are so nice to let me buy are a little tast of heaven (that makes my jaw ache!)

Twig The Wonder Kid Twig The Wonder Kid Posted 04 Jul 2007 2:54 PM

The munching of Martin & Suzi's Jerky has made my jaw what it is today. And let's face it, when it comes to eating your "5 a day", fruit scrolls are sooo much more interesting than broccoli.

Lidbert Lidbert Posted 03 Jul 2007 4:52 PM

I met them twice only. The first time I was quite suspicious (as usual), but tried a couple of their products. Another time I tried some again and, although I'm a bit mean, 'cos I'm trying to save as much as possible, I decided that it was so nice that I bought some. A great range of flavours plus nice the nice couple makes it valuable much more than some food for an amount of money.

The Grubs good, the people are extremely intresting and are always enthusiastic about their products... especially the new products and even better you can always try the product before buying. Anyway all of this aside... anyone who could think of mixing marmite and jerked meat has got to be a genius!

Ive been buying Martin and Suzis' jerky for a couple of years now, ever since I happened upon them at a re-enactors fayre in Warwick I think. The quality is second to none, it truely is the best I have ever tasted. What makes all the difference between Martins and other outlets is the personal touch. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I will now only buy from Martins Jerked Meats..

Viking_Nitro Viking_Nitro Posted 11 Jun 2007 5:19 PM

MJM's produce is in a class of its own! I have had the great pleasure of trying all their jerked meat, veggie products and fruit leathers over the past few years and have yet to find anything that can match it for taste, smell, texture, purity of ingredients or indeed price. My personal favourites: spicy meat jerky, venison & port, blackcurrant fruit leathers. Oh, and the new "Chocolate Salty Balls" are a must-buy, not only for South Park lovers! To my shame I must admit that I tried a supermarket jerky on Saturday - it was boring, too moist and full of artificial additives. You won't find that in an MJM jerky! Remember: You don't make friends with salad!

This pair are indefatigable in their quest to supply the widest range of preserved foodstuffs. Make any suggestion you want and they probably have it; if not then they've probably already tried it and can give chapter and verse on why it doesn't work. No taste bud unsurprised/delighted, no customer unmoved, no questioner unenlightened. Long live Martin's Jerked Meat !

Botwot Botwot Posted 10 Jun 2007 8:29 PM

Martin and Suzi have worked incredibly hard to create a fantastic range of dessicated nibblies. Martin is always asking for feedback on new products, and enjoys creating new flavours and textures to suit everybody-he enjoys a challenge! New flavours, textures and aromas being added all the time, while still stocking the old favourites. The jerky tastes better then the products imported from the USA. Always produced and packaged to a very high standard and served with a smile.

The variety of produce that Martin and Suzi come up with, on a regular basis, just shows how creative and imaginative they are. The mixed dried tomatoes, peppers etc. are a godsend when travelling on long journeys, as an aid to the perpetual dieting! No sticky sweets for me! The fruit scrolls are a firm favourite with my daughter, who would munch them all the time if she could, while the Biltong is a favourite with my husband (him not being a veggie lover!). Cannot speak more highly of the produce, the unique personal service and the friendliness of the whole family.

You'll never taste a more unusual or original range of foods than this, and the jerky (particularly my absolute favourite, the mouth-watering red wine and black pepper jerky) is so totally superior to any that you can buy in the shops that they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Every time you visit their stall, there is something new and totally unexpected to try, such as (favourites on our family) Daisy's Oaty Bites, the yoghurty variation on fruit scrolls, Yapple, and their inspired fat-free tomato chips. Wonderful! This food is also extremely convenient to store and to carry round with you, or it would be if it didn't get eaten within about five minutes...

Martin is constantly producing inventive and very tasty food products. He listens to and acts on feedback to improve the range and flavour. I wish his food was in my local supermarket so I could stock up each week.

The Sinfully Spicy jerky is absolutely fantastic, and also very addictive. I open a packet, and try to pace myself, but it's so more-ish, I always end up eating way more than I intend too. It's all healthy though, so it can't be bad. And I'm terrible for getting my 5-a-day - I think I'll be giving the Fruit Scrolls a try!

Have tried his JD beef jerky, biltong and fruit scrolls, and can't praise the taste highly enough.

Being vegetarian, I haven't tried his meat Jerky, but the fruit scrolls and tofu jerky are lovely! Marmite!

Wonderful stuff: don't know of anyone who makes better jerky. Life saving!

You have to try Martin's Fruit scrolls, they're delicious! Something very different, and I wish them every bit of luck, they deserve it.

The fruit scrolls are absolutely wonderful and Martin's beef jerky is also a firm favourite.

Martin and Suzi have come across an amazing product. Ive bumped into them a few times at shows and have now booked them to attend the festival i work for. Wonderful company, people and product. The only problem is we never buy enough.. my two 'fruit and veg phobic' children cant get enough of the fruit leathers, I haven't even managed to get any of it!!

First tried Martin's wares at an event in Tintagel last year. Ever since I have been hooked. The beef jerky is very tasty, though dried it still retains a full rich flavour and because of all the care Martin takes when preparing it, it is a very healthy snack. The fruit scrolls are nearly even better than the jerky. Full flavoured and in interesting combinations makes for a beautiful snack that should be in everybody's lunch box no matter their age.

Fantastic beef jerky, we love it! And no bad stuff, just beef and spices.. MMMMMM.... recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet tried it.

Totally addictive! The only problem we have with any of Martin's products is that we never buy enough and it never lasts long enough! The biltong is the only we've come across in this country that my dad likes, as he's used to the real stuff from South Africa.

An unusual company with a wonderful product. Jerky and biltong made from beef or local venison in flavours from tantalisingly tasty to eyewateringly hot. Pure, additive free fruit scrolls that are chewy, delicious and contain up to 3.5 of your daily fruit and veg portions depending on flavour (very popular with kids and those watching their diet!). Vegetarian jerky based on marinaded tofu, and the widest range of smoked, dried and chocolate dipped chillis you are likely to find including a chilli roulette that is positively dangerous. A firm favourite with historical re-enactors as well as those needing portable nutritious snacks. Well worth trying if you like food with maximum flavour.
