Pepperfield Farm Produce is a member of the Wholesome Food Association and has a fully traceable gate to plate policy. They raise their animals using traditional farming methods in conjunction with modern technology. Pepperfield Farm produces its sausages from its own free range Rare Breed Tamworth and Gloucester Old Spot pigs, without the use of artificial additives or preservatives. Their bacon is organically dry cured using traditional methods, and they have just started making their own air-dried ham and chorizo. Their pigs are kept and raised outside in woodlands and pasture and are allowed to burrow in soil and feed on natural produce in order to maintain quality. The small flock of Rare Breed Wiltshire Horn Sheep are raised to produce sweet and tender Lamb and Mutton with a fuller, meatier flavour. Pepperfield Farm was named as the UK's Most Ethical Farm Retailer by the RSPCA in 2008, has also won a RSPCA innovation award, and their Parma-style ham was recently featured on the Great British Menu.

I became a vegetarian 3 years ago because I was concerned about animal welfare, Pepperfield farm cares about its animals over all else. It might not make good business sense but it is morally right, I have tasted their sausage the first meat in 3 years! and having seen the excellent conditions the animals are kept in I feel better for it. Well done guys show the rest how it should be done.

I regularly buy the Gammon which I get thick cut, its mouth watering with a piece of pineapple. The shop differs because you get the feeling the couple who run it care. Not just about what they sell but the animals as well.

We first heard of Pepperfield Farm from the UKTV website when it was pick of the week. We are about 30 miles from the farm so we are not exactly local, but we were very pleased we did. A very warm welcome from husband and wife team Terry and Joanne. followed by a tour of the farm and lake. Seeing the content animals was very reassuring and we even got to pat some of the pigs! The whole ethos, is the key to farms success. Thank You to you both.

This is surely serendipity, having accidentally discovered Pepperfield Farm on the sausage links website I decided to give them a visit. A very friendly welcome followed by a tour of the farm and livestock. The Gloucester Old Spot and Tamworth sausages are everything they say absolutely fab. No Artificial additives, preservatives or colours, just wholesome ingredients and 100% pork shoulder.

We first visited the farm last year and we thought it was great, but having just visited again it was even better, lots of new things to see and taste. we were made to feel very welcome both Terry and Joanne excel themselves. The Rare breed piglets are so cute we are thinking of getting some ourselves. We tried the Tamworth sausage made with organic herbs it was simply delicious. Well Done to you both!

I recently reviewed their Gloucester Old Spot sausage and Tamworth bacon and it superb! It is a small farm which has appeared in Local and National press as well as BBC radio. They have a gate to plate policy and all of their produce is fully traceable. It tastes as it should as food used to.

Bill 666 Bill 666 Posted 04 Dec 2006 1:36 PM

Pepperfield Farm is run by Terry and Joanne who started 3 years ago raising rare breed animals for their own use. Terry developed sausage recipes (rather than using butchers pre-mix)using natural skins 100%pork NO additives and NO preservatives using Tamworth and Gloucester Olds Spot Pigs which were reared in oak woodland, naturally. The Bacon is cured using an Organic cure and tastes superb. They also have a small flock of Orpington free range chickens. Due to popular demand and excellent tatste the products have appeared in the National and Local Press ie The Guardian Good Food Guide, The Times on-line, Darlington and Stockton Great North country fayre hanbook and more recently BBC radio Cleveland. They are members of the Wholesome Food Society and their policy is full traceability from GATE to PLATE. All of the produce is raised and processed by them. They have an open farm policy where anyone is welcome.
