I've been going to Gennaro for years and always find the same fantastic service and great variety of top Italian food. What I love about the place is the authenticity and quality of the products and lack of pretence. There's no trying to be super-trendy, they just sell genuine, very good food. Staff are always helpful and cheery and the atmosphere of the place is great.
I am a Mediterranean and a food writer. Gennaro's is a bit of heaven in one of the less charming shopping centres (not counting a very good street market). The staff (who inherited this shop a few years ago) are just wonderful, the smells just like Italy, the variety of produce enormous, the standard high. I can't praise it enough! Love to Gennaro and all the staff Helen
Genaro's is the only place in London where I get personalised service. Anthony and staff do their best to fill my orders to exact specifications everytime! and are very knowledgeable and give great advice on how to get the best out of their food. And also they dont charge an arm and a leg, and can beat tesco & co on quality and price!
Gennaros is by far the best shop in the Lewisham area of South London. It gives a very welcome break from the industrial sized and run supermarkets that dominate our shopping landcsape. The service is always very friendly and the atmosphere is full of the smells and colours of Italy, including parmesan cheese, boscaiola olives, ciabatta bread, ice cream, and espresso coffee, which you can buy to drink on the spot or take away. Gennaros is also very reasonable in price.
I hope this shop wins because as soon as I entered it felt like i wasn't in London any more it felt like living in Italy. This shop gives good service and the people who help people to show were things are, are very helpful. Antonia & Elena are very nice people.
What can I say....I walk in... I feel and smell like I'm in Italy. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is amazing, home made bread and pasta. There's no other place to obtain good quality Italian ingredients. The service is second to none. Exactly what you would receive when in Italy.. Fantastico!!!!
A wonderful array of Italian food, served up with a big dollop of cheeriness from Antonio. Family-run, with a great selection of cured meats, cheeses and breads, this deli is an absolute asset to Lewisham. It also won the Award for Most Popular Retailer in Lewisham Town Centre 2006- voted for by lewisham residents.
