Caws Mynydd Du
Selling: Cheese / Dairy
Caws Mynydd Du, or otherwise ‘Black Mountains Cheese’, was created by Andrew and Helen Meredith on their family farm at the foot of the Black Mountains. Together they have developed a welsh farmhouse cheese produced using milk from a flock of sheep, fed only on Lodge Farm’s grass and crops. Caws Mynydd Du curd is milled by hand, salted and left to mellow before being placed in moulds and pressed in Lodge Farm’s antique press. Once pressed, it is waxed or left to develop a rind whilst maturing in the farmhouse’s eighteenth century cellar.

Prior to Caws Mynydd Du setting up I was unable to buy sheep's cheese apart from at the supermarket. Now I can buy a locally produced sheep cheese that my children love and that is good value for money.
