found this great place by accident - superb food, made better by friendly, understanding & welcoming service - they felt like friends when we had been there for five minutes. Couldn't recommend more highly if I tried - just a pity they are not closer to my home - a totally tastier treat than any thing I have found in my locality

Tha atmosphere, service and food where second to none - I had the nicest food that I have had for as long as I can remember. The staff were friendly and professional - yet very approachable and good humoured. A really great eating out experience that I would 100% recommend.

This restaurant offers absolute professional and friendly service, fine food, freshly cooked as ordered with all local produce where possible. We have been there many many times, and it just gets better. We just love the atmosphere, the staff are all so friendly and the food cannot be bettered. Good luck to this restaurant in this competition - they deserve recognition on a large scale.

Marvellous town-centre setting, delightful people, delicious food, lovely atmosphere, attentive, friendly service and all at a price which won't leave you needing to remortgage ... what more can one ask?

This restaurant is an absolute cracker. Tucked away just off the main drag in Penzance, the bakehouse has an exciting menu, a great wine list and convivial atmosphere. It's a great place for lunch and dinner, the prices are more than agreeable and the cooking is superb

After another fantastic Penzance Mazy day and a wonderful ending at the always fabulous Bakehouse – would recommend to anyone who is partial to a bit of top quality dining.

One of Penzance’s best-kept secrets …an absolute gem. This restaurant really sets the standard for all restaurants in the area. A friend said he has never before eaten somewhere where the food has moved him almost to tears of pleasure and he reckoned the Bakehouse should be given the Michelin star a restaurant near by currently has! And I agree.

They have a modern, seasonally varied and sophisticated menu that thrives on its locally sourced and seasonal produce. A menu that delights the taste buds – couldn’t recommend them more.

Found by chance and now we visit whenever we’re in Penzance. Home cooked food and sumptuous desserts, are a trademark of this wonderful, friendly restaurant. We love the food and warm welcome Andy and Rachel so generously provide.

My husband and I ate there on Friday and had a superb meal. The lobster was delicious with the best dressing ever. We were quite full after two courses but decided to greedily squeeze some desserts in aswell and they were just amazing. With the excellent service and great wine list to choose from we couldn't ask for much more 10 out of 10!

Went to the Bake House last night for my birthday. As always the food was exquisite, the cocktails divine, and the service fantastic.

Fantastic restaurant, friendly staff, superb food and a stylish and well thought out restaurant. Having eaten at many places throughout west Cornwall, my partner and I consider The bakehouse to be the pick of the bunch.

What a hen-night we had. The cocktails were wonderful, the food well presented and tasted great. The waiting staff and Rachel were very attentive but in deference to them we acted with decorum.

An excellent place to dine, we are a guest house and send all our guest there as we are fully confident that they will have good food, good service and pleasant surroundings. When able we eat there ourselves it is our first choice for Penzance.

There are many places to eat in Cornwall and Penzance has more than its fair share. The Bakehouse stands out from the crowd and deserves credit for the food and the professional way it is run. Visitors will not be disappointed. Good luck.

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere; fabulous food; tucked away from the main drag.

Suzie111 Suzie111 Posted 14 Jun 2007 7:53 AM

Scrumptious locally sourced food, warm and wonderful staff, excellent wines. It's no surprise that three times when I've mentioned in casual conversation that I visit Penzance on a semi-regular basis, I've been advised to dine here (hows about that for word of mouth advertising). How fortunate that I first discovered it just after Andy and Rachel opened. Exceptional!

TJ38 TJ38 Posted 12 Jun 2007 10:53 PM

I absolutely loved my night out at the Bakehouse. It made me feel like if I was in some sort of Mediterranean village with friendly locals and amazingly fresh food. Their limeade is soooo good and you cannot skip puddings at all means!

Marle Marle Posted 12 Jun 2007 9:33 PM

The Bakehouse is a great little place. The food is so fresh and tasty and the staff are just brilliant. Because it is tucked away in a small courtyard it's really cosy and the atmosphere in the restaurant is always chilled and relaxed. If you're looking for a night out in Penzance that includes amazing food and great service then look no further than the Bakehouse. I would recommend it to anyone - locals and visitors alike.

I have know Rachel and Andy personally for a number of years and can say that their professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment to producing the best quality food available at extremely reasonable prices is second to none. I never miss an opportunity to eat at the Bakehouse and have often taken clients from London there when they visit our offices and they are always pleasantly surprised with the ambience and the value for money. Eat there you won't be disappointed!

sparkyukone sparkyukone Posted 12 Jun 2007 9:30 AM

We never miss an opportunity to eat here - we love everything about this restaurant. The chef, Andy, has such flair and a great understanding of flavours - he is no amateur, this is serious cooking. Every dish we've had has been a delight, and our only regret is that we don't have the equivalent nearer to home, and we live in London. Everyone here is so genuine, Rachel & the girls are always so open and always give the friendliest welcome - no matter how busy they are, it's always service with a smile.

We have a Guest House and when guests ask where they can get a good meal in Penzance we can with confidence say The Bakehouse Restaurant and know they will report to us at breakfast how much they enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. Many have commented on the quality of food. We have sent many guests there during our season and have never had any that haven't had a favourable report.

The exceptional food, the Mediterranean style setting, the polite and courteous staff, not to mention Andy and Rachel who make it an absolute delight to eat at this restaurant. It is the perfect setting for any occasion and we strongly recommend it to anyone living in or visiting Penzance.

Andy and Rachel have cracked it at the Bakehouse. It's a hidden treasure - a beautiful, intimate restaurant tucked away in Penzance. The food is fresh, locally produced and the flavours are always innovatively combined. Spoil yourselves!

Steerpike Steerpike Posted 04 Jun 2007 7:15 PM

We received a very warm welcome and a sincere apology that we hadn't booked so would have to wait an hour for a table. Because the welcome was so friendly we decided to, and boy were we glad we did, the atmosphere was splendid and the staff efficient but not over bearing and above all always happy to help, for example we didn't like our first choice of wine, changing it for another was not a problem. Of course the important thing is the food, presentation and taste led to possibly one of the best meals out I have ever had, we will definitely be going back, possibly tonight.

We were at the Bakehouse again last Friday. Andy in the kitchen is all you could ask for - imaginative, fantastic totally locally sourced ingredients superbly cooked, and Rachels front of house welcome is so warm and genuine. Her cocktails are really mean, and her team is pretty darn good too. We really rate this place. I eat out a great deal in London, and The Bakehouse stands up to London scrutiny, it's fantastic.

Wonderful variety of local produce, alongside warmth and great hospitality. This place could hold its own against some of the finest restaurants in London. We will be back very soon.

It's rare to find such imaginative and superbly cooked vegetarian dishes - I can't recommend it highly enough. It's a real pleasure to eat at a place which offers excellent food (for carnivores, fish-eaters and veggies), warm, friendly yet highly professional service and a a lovely ambience. A real gem.
