View all reviews (7)I love their smoked salmon. It is the best I have ever tasted. The smoked prawns are also lovely - When I am up there on holiday I usually buy a pint and eat them on Bamburgh beach!
I could not agree more with the below ratings. The Salmon is fabulous. I shamefully was not aware of Swallows Fish until a friend mentioned them to me. I live not far from Seahouses myself and was delighted to find this little place still using traditional methods. You can even shop online and have the fish delivered to your door. My husband loved the Fishermans itchen... although it still hasn't inspired him to get into our kitchen and cook but I guess miracles take longer than a fish does to smoke!!
this was fantastic we were on holiday and we went there last year and we went back again this year and the fishmongers in the smoke house were so friendly and welomed us and let us look inside and see where they smoke the fish and told us evrything we wanted to know. the first time we visited we saw them filling up the smoke house and the seconmt time we visited we saw them taking the fish out as it had just finished and you could smell the oak chips in the smoke house and away from it!!!!! the fish was so tasty and had a fresh taste to it!!!! at christmas we orderd a smoked salmon from there and you have never tasted anythink like it, it was soooooooo yummy!!!!!!!!! i have had smoked salmon since but its not tasted the same!!!!!!!! fabolous!!!!!!!!! if we go to scotland again next year im sure we will visit again.!!!!!!!!!!!

SUPER QUALITY FRUITS OF THE SEA. EXCELLENT, FRIENDLY STAFF ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP & ADVISE. THE BEST KIPPERS BAR NONE THAT I HAVE EVER TASTED. CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY ANYBODY WOULD ONLY GIVE THIS GREAT PLACE A ONE STAR RATING. SURELY A MISTAKE!!!
We love a trip to Seahouses and always come home with fish from Swallows and its always of excellent quality and we really like to make up a huge pot of kedgiree. The smoke house is right on the harbour too, its one of the last operational smoke houses in the region and has been running since 1858...we must support our local producers.
Smoked fish from the last fully operational 19th Century smoke house in Seahouses. The taste of the fish from here is sensational,i travel the 4 hour trip from Home several times a year,with an order from my family which is extensive,you simply must try the Kippers which are a specialty and the smoked Shellfish.
