It's worth a visit, and you will be amazed by the quality and price- cheaper than most supermarkets for fantastic quality. Long Live Andersons
Fab food, friendly service - cooking instructions and advice when required is always spot on. Lovely to go in a shop where people talk to each other!!!!
Great food, great staff (Justin, Vic and Lee) a make this an excellent local shop
Traditional butchers are few and far between. Andersons Butchers is excellent - the meat is first class and the service is even better!!!! Why on earth the Council wants to take their signs down, after all these years, is totally beyond belief. With so many local businesses being forced out of the market by supermarkets, more support should be given to the local shops by the Council. The signs do not distract drivers. If that is the reason given by the Council then all advertising signs should be taken down - why target Andersons!
A traditional Butchers shop where you are always greeted with a smile and a joke whatever the weather. With all other traditional butchers in the area shut it's the last of a dying breed. Helpful and knowledgable staff selling only the best cuts of meat and a few items of locally grown produce that you can't get in big chains.
Wow! How lucky are we to have Vic, Justin and Lee just round the corner. When our 9 year old started commenting on how much he liked the chicken or the pork, or the lamb, we knew we had made the right choice. We avoid the big supermarkets as a matter of principle. Now we know where our meat comes from and why it tastes so much better, and thats because this dynamic trio know all there is to know. From little 'post its' on the pies reminding Jim to brush some milk over the top, to why the chicken supplier/farmer thankfully refused to be bought out by the big T! And when did you last have your potatoes carried out to the car for you? Or when did your small children feel welcome in an adult environment, just by being treated as as human being with a kind and genuine word and a joke? Take the signs away ... our local council are stark raving bonkers ... such a shame they don't put more energy into other more pressing issues. Leave our Andersons alone!
My wife swears by them. she enjoys shopping there. In a nutshell She trusts mr anderson. The home cooked ham is A must.
Very pleasant and helpful staff (a rarity today)superb meats guaranteed and Justin is always happy to suggest some recipes and cooking times for you. If you currently buy your meat (loose description)in a supermarket you don't know what you are missing.
Recently we made some decisions about how and where we shop after reading various articles etc especially about compassion in farming. We looked for a local butcher who had knowledge and passion for their products and suppliers. Therefore what a great find Andersons was! Vic, Justin and Lee, a class triple act! I don’t even ask for a particular cut of meat any more, just tell them your dinner plans and they simply give you their best accompanied with cooking instructions for the best taste ever! Being a small shop tucked away on the Great North Rd you have to look for the “Andersons” signs. Due to local planning laws our tunnel vision, small-minded local council want the signs removed.
Andersons do some fantastic meat best ive had by far, would highly reccommend them to anyone, Not only is the food great the friendly service you recieve while there is equally as good.
Anderson is a fantasic butchers with superb service. Justin and his father are real foodies, passionate about their product. Their meat puts supermarket stuff to shame. Long may they continue.
The world's best sausages and it was a disaster when we thought they were closing down; they didn't but you have to know where to look to find them now. Where else around here can you get Scottish Lorne and Fruit Sausage? Signs in the old shop: "Scotch Eggs from Scotch Chickens"; "Why do the English eat Scotch Eggs? To stop them breeding!"
The most fantastic butchers shop ever. Wonderful 'old fashioned' service, meat that tastes as it should, chicken that donesn't disolve into a watery mush when you cook it and sausages to die for. Thank you Justin, Vic and Lee. Long may you continue.........
Andersons is more than just a butchers, They also sell lots of various wonderful other locally produced products... Their meat is the best meat i have tasted, the pork tastes of pork, The service is always friendly, Justin will advice on how how to cook your particular meat, And 10 times out of 10 he is spot on...
Good evening everybody and thank you for your kind words. I only discovered this site this afternoon when Mr Phelps from Andorra briefed me on its existence. The documentation I received when we were first nominated (it’s coming back to me a bit) was pretty quickly put in the dustbin. It’s nothing against UKTV but we’re a bit busy to watch a lot of television but I’m sure they do a very good job – they must do because they found us. Tell the Rogers we have restructured and have a little weekend shop around the back of the big shop – they can call us anytime on 01480 212212. We are now going to ask our customers to post reviews on this site and will see what they come up with! Our company description does of course state that we are “Suppliers To Some Of The Most Interesting And Individual People In The World”. And some pretty strange ones too. As you were.
Simply the friendliest, most knowledgeable and helpful butchers ever, with the very best produce on offer. A great asset to the local community.
Hi Vic and Justin - miss your minted lamb fillets and chops - and your really nice smoked bacon Stella and Alan Rogers
As an ex-pat, it has been a while since I brought much meat there but I always buy 2 or 3 kilos of sausages to bring back to France so as to show our French neighbours what real bangers are all about.
simply one of the best butchers I've ever been to!
This is a traditional 'old fashioned' butcher shop with excellent local produce on sale, with locally grown veg and preserves. Justine and his father have built a great reputation locally and their services are exceptional!
