The Keystone

Gastropub

Selling: Home-Cooked Dishes

The Keystone is one of a very small number of independent public houses in Guildford. Regenerated in the autumn of 2003 from a grimy, wet-led, town-centre boozer, they have worked hard to re-instigate the traditional values of the British Pub; real ale, british food, efficient service & good company, all in a safe, welcoming & warm environment with a modern feel. Flavours are robust; cooking is straightforward and unpretentious; dishes focus on pub favourites with additions as the seasons dictate. The secluded terrace overlooks the quiet Bury Street & St. Nicholas Church, making for a lovely retreat from the chaos that can be Guildford High Street at the weekend.

I'm from Reading, whenever I go to Guildford; the Keystone is a must. Brilliant food, nice beer selection and decent, friendly staff; who, might I say, are not afraid to converse with its clientele on all manor of subjects. I can’t praise this place enough. In the week they even have live music to help you wash down you beer. It’s so refreshing to chat with REAL people at the Keystone, and not plastic young fools who judge a good night on quantity of alcohol consumed. No chance of that in the Keystone.....u21 are not allowed access

The keystone is THE place to go for the type of people who have had enough of drunken teenagers and yearn for a place with a cool, relaxed atmousphere, great tunes, not just friendly but genuine barstaff who always manage to pre-empt my desire for a pint. Not to mention the food, just delicious and properly cooked by proper chefs. So, whether with friends or simply fancy a quiet pint (though generally turning into more pints and putting the world to rights) check out the Keystone.

The food at the Keystone is always fresh, innovative and excellent, often made with locally sourced ingredients. Accompanied by a great atmosphere, friendly staff and a great wine list, this pub is always a winner, and really good value for money too.
