Riverside Community Market Association is an enterprise to provide a source of healthy, affordable and tasty food for the residents of Riverside, wider Cardiff and surrounding areas and to contribute to the health and sustainability of Welsh agriculture by providing an outlet for small local producers. They have many community projects which all serve to create a friendly, accessible and pleasing space where everyone can feel welcome (promoting links between all sections of the community) including a community allotment and a food co-operative.

We trade at this market on a regular basis and it is definitely the best market that we attend. The atpmoshere, diversity of customers and traders surely make it a unique farmers market and definately deserves to be the local food hero for 2007. It's got my vote!
I've been to a few other UK markets and Cardiff's is undoubtedly the best. The community spirit is terrific and the stall selection gets better and better with each week. Get down there!
I adore the friendly relaxed atmosphere, the selection is great and I love that I can walk there, it’s a pleasure to be able to get great quality, great selection, mostly locally sourced produce and warm friendly service in one place. I invariably come across someone I know, often it’s the only chance I get to see them! The market has its own Cardiff-wide community that is so easy to become part of. All you need to do is show up every now and again and not only will you get a chance to sample some of the very best that Wales has to offer but there is a good chance you will make a few friends at the same time.
A fantastic market , we trade there whenever we're not at a festival or renactment, a wide selection of local produce always a great turnout of stall with a massive variety of produce (its so good i dont mind leaving a review even though im up against them for the award LOL) Martin (martins jerked meat)
An excellent market--glad to see it is to be part of the Cardiff International food festival in Cardiff Bay in July.
it has a wide range of foods, it's an enjoyable experience and I usually meet someone I know or half know! my god daughter and I share a ritual almond croissant. it's really great to see the variety of apples; orchards and varieties are in decline because of the supermarket.
This is an excellent way to unwind on a Sunday morning in the heart of Cardiff. There is some excellent produce on sale and the quality and variety keeps on getting better and better - the fish producers are a welcome bonus. It is a way of putting money directly into the pockets of the hard working producers.
Riverside Market is very important to the local economy of Cardiff and immediate areas. It is vital that there is a an outlet for small niche market farmers and market gardens. Moreover the market adds a certain dynamic to the embankment area on the Sunday riiht next to the millenium stadium. This really is putting Cardiff and riverside on the map.
A really lovely atmosphere and a sense of community all revolving around food! Fresh, local produce, wonderful ambience and a real social event too - I love going there!
Always see my friends there - it's a social, vibrant and lovely atmosphere and you get the great benefit of delicious food. Hope they do open up another market in Roath as I think the city can support it.
Fabulous food, friendly atmosphere, a great meeting place!
This was a great idea to have such a market in a beautiful location at the heart of Cardiff city centre. This market is a colourful piece of art which distinguishes this peaceful city. What also distinguishes this market is its food variety where you can find welsh, french, indian and arabic food. The new middle east Lebanese food stall is just unique in its variety and its fantastic taste. For the first time in wales you can enjoy eating fresh Falafel fried in front of your eyes. It is a very good feeling to see everybody at this maket enjoying their time and food with a big smile of their faces.
It's made a difference to shopping in Cardiff and gives us locally produced seasonal produce on a regular basis. Social buying, not only do you get to meet the growers but also your friends. Continually developing, long may it continue.
The Riverside Real Food Market is in a stunning location on the edge of the river Taff and in the shade of the great altar of Rugby the Wales Millennium Centre - but what matters is the good and increasingly wide range of good food sold there. In the last few months some great new stalls have been added and the place is more popular than ever. We are particularly lucky to have a bread and patisserie stall run by a French family, as well as some excellent meat and fish stalls. I live in Cardiff Bay and it is a real treat to wander around the stalls on Sunday mornings and it turns out to be as much a social outing as a shopping trip. Keep up the good work - Alun.
Riverside Real Food Market is a colourful and vibrant place to be, rain or sunshine. The atmosphere is great and the stallholders, customers and market team are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. I feel that I am very privileged to be part of this.
I live and work in Riverside and the market is an important addition to an area has suffered more than its share of unjustified misconceptions over the years.
My 3 year old thinks that the Millenium stadium is part of the market, that's how important it is in our household. We go there nearly every week, come rain or shine, (except when we are on holiday) and load up the bikes with fresh veg, bread, snacks, fresh fish etc. It's a great social place too, for meeting friends and making new ones.
The market is held every Sunday, 10.00 - 14.00, and sells a wide variety of the best of local produce and crafts. If you want organic fruit and vegetables, wild game, organic and free range meat, soap, plants, freshly cooked Indian food, coffee, lemonade, fruit juice, whisky, patisserie, bread and so much more, then this is the place to shop in Cardiff. Check the website, http://www.riversidemarket.org.uk/index.html, for details of who is going to be there each week"
Riverside Market has been running for several years with the aim of promoting organic and Welsh produce. A range of meat and vegetables are available, all grown or processed within Wales.
