As someone who suffers from Coeliacs disease, it's refreshing to find somewhere that serves food that I can eat! The atmosphere at Lucy's is fantastic, the service and the quality of the food is fantastic, the delicatessan is fantastic..... Lucy's is just an experience not to be missed. Well done Lucy!

If you are visiting the Lakes you must go to Lucy's. If you live near - lucky, lucky, lucky. Lucy's is simply great, with the emphasis on proper, local and fresh.

It's so refreshing to have somewhere in such a busy tourist area like the Lake District providing a wide range of local produce both in the deli and the restaurant. Lucy is hugely passionate about everything she does and every visit is incredibly personalised, especially if you book early in advance as you are privileged to get a special mention in the blurb for each evening menu which she produces on a daily basis! The food is outstanding! I have dined here both at the restaurant in the evening, or for lunch/afternoon snacks and on all occasions it have been excellent! I can thoroughly recommend the afternoon teas, supposed to be for one, but they are huge and an excellent thing to share!!! Fabulous!

I've visited Lucys on a Plate and Lucy4 tons of times, and I never tire of either. Fantastic locally produced food, thoughtfully put together and puddings to die for.

Good simple food, well cooked. The shop has a good range or well selected produce, though maybe the chill counter could do with some improvement. Service in the restaurant can really suffer very badly when they are busy during the daytime. But it's not just when they're busy: while waiting for a table, I've far too often been utterly ignored, and then they get very uppity if you go and sit yourself at an empty table. It's usually worth the hassle though!

Have just had a meal at Lucy 4 and the whole experience was great. I loved the decor and the ambience but more importantly, the food was superb, served with a smile. Ambleside ought to think itself lucky to have it.

Lucy4 is the future of restaurant eating... pick, mix and share a range of fabulous food (meaty, veggie and fishy) with the emphasis very definitely being sociable - sharing good company and good food & drinks. Split level bar upstairs, cosy fire downstairs and outside seating and heating. Whether you are enjoying an evening simply 4 a drink, 4 a bite or 4 a feast it's a fiendish find 4 everyone!

Lucy's Specialist Grocers is the sort of place you dream about finding. Lucy's was born in 1989 through a love of food and people... originally the shop was a bit of everything, working on the 'demand and supply' syndrome. Now it specialises much more in food that is produced by passionate people - a great deal from the surrounding area, some from a little further afield. 'Food for foodies' is probably a good way to describe it. Some of the things Lucy's have are unique -mainly because they are lovingly created in their own kitchens, other items you may find hard to obtain elsewhere and their ever increasing homemade gluten free goodies are now available by Lucy's Mail Order 'Deli t'dor' - (direct from our deli to your door!)
