Much Ado is a little oasis in the market town of Olney. It's a match for any funky cafe in any of the big cities with funky decor and cool staff. Everything in the cafe is presented with such care and attention to detail. Americanos and lattes are better than Starbucks or Costa, sandwiches are delicious and beautifully presented. And the recent beetroot soup is exquisite. The owner has really thought about how to bring a slice of the cosmopolitan pie to Olney and I love it. Bring on the award - this place deserves recognition!

Just tasted borsht for the first time - just the treat as the weather turns autumny - with potato focaccia bread - all this in the middle of a rural area in England!

Much Ado is such a source of fresh and imaginative food when I come to the UK. I know my son works there, but it makes such a pleasant change to find high quality produce in the UK. I like to think that Oliver's upbringing in France, has contributed to the particularly good range of French products that has helped to establish Much Ado as such a valuable asset to the local community.

The food selection is forever changing. There are always samples of new exotic fare. Much Ado is an exciting place to visit. Even the staff are fun. I haven't tried the Cafe yet because I always spend all my money in the Shop. This place is the best. I'm hungry thinking about it. Go for it, Matt.

Much Ado is absolutely wonderful. Not only is the food great but the atmosphere has the place buzzing. I had scrambled eggs and the coffee cake is so moist and delicious I could not stop eating this. Disappointed when it had gone. It is out of the way slghtly in Olney but well worth tracking down for somewhere to eat. scatter1

Well, what can i say ! what a place ! The scrumptious food on offer is of the most outstanding quality and freshness one could ever hope to dine upon. The staff are so full of ideas and are the greatest bunch of food lovers i have ever met. Matt has chosen his products very well and his staff are a credit to him....even olly ( the bald guy) who always makes me laugh and sells me things i dont need !Well done to all and i hope you win!

They have the most amazing choice of cheeses that make your mouth water and are perfect to take to a dinner party. Whilst you stand in the shop the staff will walk past with a tray of freshly cooked bread or goats cheese tarts or some other delicacy that you just have to have. I can think of nothing better to kick start me in the morning than a cup of their frothy cappucino to take out, all in all a great deli and cafe.

Much Ado is a pleasure to shop in and to eat. The staff make it such an enjoyable and educational shopping and cafe experience. Some unusual offerings and tasting samples too. We have thoroughly enjoyed each shopping experience as well as delighting in eating them. Yum Yum. Good Luck

This is the type of Deli/Cafe I could spend all day in, breakfast, lunch & afternoon tea, maybe in the future, dinner too! Excellent service, knowledge and produce, what more could you want. McDonalds this is not!, thank god. Once tried, you will be back for more & more

Olney has a great asset in Much Ado. The quality and range of food is unparalleled. Add to this the friendly and very knowledgeable staff and you have a winning recipe. A special mention must go to one member of staff Oliver Yorke who has always been there to offer me his extensive knowledge on all things food. (I am not just saying that because he is my brother!...although a bit of discount wouldn't go a miss)

philyorke philyorke Posted 06 Jul 2008 2:39 PM

I buy my fresh veg and fruit from here every week. The quality and variety are excellent! Visiting the shop is an experience and you will often walk out with more than you came for! The queues are a testament to it's success and at busy times you will have to wait for the amazing, attentive and knowledgable service. The coffee shop tempts you with it's cakes and fine coffees - all round an exceptional gastronomic experience.

Cazdac Cazdac Posted 05 Jul 2008 9:56 PM

Matthew and his team are simply superb - it is a total pleasure to shop here. The food, the produce, the variety, the expertise and the customer service are absolutely exceptional. In particular, may I rate the Samosas!!! In thirty years of travelling the Near and Far East, I have NEVER tasted anything as superb - they are simply beyond the world of mere five star cuisine - (they're delicious too!) - and I never know whether I prefer the Lamb or the Vegetable until the next mouthful - please please please develop this particular line, the Chef is clearly divinely inspired!

Whizjet Whizjet Posted 05 Jul 2008 9:21 PM

It would be easy to get carried away here. They know their food and the quality is excellent. But even better, despite these very high standards, they will serve you with spicey sausages even when they are really closed.

helm123 helm123 Posted 05 Jul 2008 8:57 PM

A wide range of fresh produce which you would expect from a modern Delicatessen. What sets this one higher? The excellent service you receive, both in the shop and with their outside catering. I have never met anybody more knowledgable about food than Clive, who is always willing to offer his advise and cooking tips. Always a pleasure.

rustydgs rustydgs Posted 05 Jul 2008 1:24 PM

Once you've visited Much Ado your guaranteed to go back again. The Chorizo sausages for cooking are full of lfavour and liven up any pasta dish, the local pate is one not to be missed as is the hummus. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for that something different and sepcial.

Dodgy5 Dodgy5 Posted 05 Jul 2008 11:45 AM

Good range of quality in season fresh fruit & vegetables. Excellent selection of cheeses, fish & cold meats. A lot of their produced is locally sourced or freshly made/cooked on site e.g. asparagus, hummus, crayfish I have never been disappointed with anything I have bought from this deli. The staff are very friendly, enthusiastic & knowledgeable about their produce. They get to know their customers and are happy to make recommendations about items they think you will like. They are also happy to let you try before you buy & as their produce is so good I always come away with far more than I intended! They make shopping a pleasure.

It's hard to choose between some of the local food heroes lissted in this directory, and with only one vote, I chose Muchado, since it provides an outlet as a deli/caterer for many local producers, some of whom are separately listed, such as Lingers, Woburn Country Foods, Pastures farm, Milk from Adderson, Local crayfish, Exotic Indian food as well as many others.

Very inspirational! Much Ado has a great range of fabulous ingredients in additional to the delicious prepared food - I always come back from any visit to the deli wanting to cook(and usually doing so, trying some new ingredient). We especially love their Samosa's, home made chicken liver pate and sour dough bread. One of the few places to slice bacon to order, and with a great range of cheeses - their enthusiasm for the food, and offering of samples encourages the trying of new foods - a great local hero.

This is a fantastic shop. The food is excellent - a huge range of top quality products. The staff are all passionate about food and are full of advice on how to get the best out of their produce. A particular favourite is the charcuterie. They do a fantastic salami selection and the Parma and Serrano are both excellent with a pleasing texture and nutty flavour. Cheeses are kept well and advice is always available on what's best.

Great people, great food, great service. Everything about this shop is just excellent. Muchado can be likened to a food museum and the staff a comprehensive food encyclopaedia. A day spent in Muchado is never usually enough. You'll never be bored, there's always something new to taste, touch, smell and learn about. On the matter of international cuisine, they sell the most exquisite varieties of freshly prepared handmade samosas, skewered chicken tikka & curried dhal soups, all produced locally ofcourse. Muchado's offerings bring about nostalgic thoughts & feelings. Don't just take my word for it, pop in and see for yourself.

We will return, simply because you feel so at ease without the snobbery that is attached with 'deli' food.
