It is a wonderful shop that resonates with all of the qualities I had thought, sadly, existed only in the domain of other people's memories... memories of bygone years before the march of the supermarkets and intensive food manufacture, and before I was born. Not so. It's a treat every Saturday to stand in the queue and go home with something marvelous to cook for a Sunday dinner to be enjoyed with friends.
The people are very friendly, they ask you exactly how you are going to cook the food so they can prepare it properly for you. really good meat too.
All their meat is organic, well sourced, beautifully presented and tastes exquisite. Unfortunately everyone in the area knows it too so there is always a large queue, but this gives time to catch up on the local gossip.
My Saturday morning ritual... William rose for bacon, port and apple sausages, black pudding and free range eggs...! Heaven Lovely staff, unbeatable meat, even my dad (who's dad was a sheep farmer) says it is some of the best lamb he has ever tried. Well worth the long queues!
These friendly butchers sell great meat. They are helpful - and there is plenty of opportunity for interesting chat in the queue!

As a teenager, shopping is usually hell!(unless if games...) But, when my mother tells me and my brother to go the butchers', i cannot wait to get out of the house. They work so hard in there, and are still able to crack jokes! My local hero.
A truly wonderful butchers, extremely knowledgeable and always has a great selection. I particularly like their Ridings Reserve extra matured English beef, surely the best beef in the country. The lamb is pretty fine too! A gem of a butchers.

They must be in the five top butchers in London. How refreshing to deal with staff who are passionate about there profession and have great product knowledge selling meat with full tracability. A great team and service.
I have been getting meat from William Rose since it opened and there is none finer. Supermarkets don't compare. Staff are very helpful and courteous. The queues along Lordship Lane speak for themselves.
Better than any supermarket, great service, competitively priced and free range/organic. No wonder there's always a queue. It's worth it - and they deliver to your door.
This used to be Hesters of Kennington Lane and is one of the top butchers in South London. It provides free range and organic British meat and game - Get there early you'll have to queue its so popular. Nothing is too much trouble for these guys
William Rose sells free range and organic meat, game and poultry, as well as home-made sausages & pies. The meat is better quality than supermarket fare and more competitively priced, the staff are wonderfully friendly, highly professional and courteous and, above all, knowlegeable about meat!!
