I want to reactivate Harolds Butchers for local food hero. Tastey local meats served with pleasure. Their motto "a pleasure to meet you - meat to please you". Harold knows all his customers names and what they like.

I have now worked at Harolds for two years and I can say that to achieve such high standards in quality meat it requires an extreme ammount of hard work. We all at Harold James butchers put in a maximum 101 percent effort to meet our expectations which are to please our customers with high quality meat, and as Harold would say, "we have to meet the demands the customers are creating". We would all like to thank everybody who voted for us and would like to thank all our customers for shopping with us. And remember were pleased to meet you, with meat to please you!

Harold is a true diamond in the rough of butchers. The quality of the local produce is second to none, I have tried butchers all over the country, and to say that the fresh meat Harold provides is by far the best would be an understatement. Along with this, the home cooked meats are to die for, the home cured ham is out of this world, and the bacon, oh my, if you have any liking towards bacon, you have to try some of Harolds, home dry cured, not like the rubbish that shrivels up after excreting a gallon of water per rasher, and the smoked variety, which is also done on the premesis is divine. All in all the food that can be bought in this shop is enough to win this award outright, put that together with Harolds kindness and willingness to ensure you can never wait to get home and in the kitchen, the staff are very knowledgable about the trade too, having been taught by the Master himself, and it is a delight to see such youngsters involved in such an industry and providing such a wonderful service to the local community. Harold James you are the best.

Harold James is a Master Craftsman Butcher. The absolute best for miles around. His sole ambition in life is to provide all his customers with a friendly chat and products that really are hygenically and carefully prepared yielding true taste and tenderness. The home made products are numerous . Pies on a thursday crammed full of the tenderest meat, local beef and lamb carefully matured so it carves and tastes like what mum gave us .The range of own cured bacon and variety sausages leaves you watering at the mouth but no horrible white scum. I know people who travel miles for his bacon. Free range chickens that taste like real chicken. The Scotch eggs are legendary, be early on a wednesday morning and they are still hot. Whatever cut or type of meat , Harold , with a broad smile will cut you the best piece thick or thin. You know it will be ooohh so good. The summer barbque range is mind blowing yet pound for pound he so reasonably priced. We get excellent quality at truly affordable prices. The last of a dying breed and our hero butcher of Cricklade.

Moved here 8 years ago and it was recommended at work. Would never buy my meat from elsewhere. If only more restaurants purchased there meat from this excellent butcher I wouldn't have so many poor meals out.

All staff in Harolds have fantastic customer service and remember the meat you like and the cut you like. Since discovering Harolds we never buy meat from a supermarket and love going in to get our weekly supplies. His turkeys are brilliant at Christmas and the ham is to die for. Harold is a lovely, genuine man who is brilliant at his job.

Harold James is a class act. A quality butcher that cares deeply for the preparation of all the meats in his shop. All locally sourced, most are home cured that includes home smoked delicious bacon, home made pies, scotch eggs, even home made apple pies, the list is endless. Last year I was in China for two months. One morning on waking, my wife asked if I had a good dream? To which I replied "Yes" I said "I dreamed of Harold and his tasty smoked bacon, home made sausages and tasty cheddar cheese. You can keep your rice I'm going home to England and Harolds home cured meats" Harold is a true master craftsman that only has on offer the highest quality oroduce, a perfect gentleman that always has a welcoming smile to one and all that are lucky enough to enter his shop in the High Street in Cricklade.

Everything about this high class butchers is wonderful. The service, the quality, the range and the well trained staff. If you like homemade scotch eggs, Wednesday morning is the day to come, but you will have to stand in the queue as there will be many people before you. Take home some of his homemade sausages and you are in for a treat. Succulent, tender and no hidden additives. Take your time and just look at his range of meat dishes. Compliment them with many of the local items on show. The cleanliness of the shop is excellent. Pppeople travel from far away to stock up their freezers. He will remember you and greet you with respect. A wonderful man who has been trading in Cricklade since he was a boy. He knows his trade inside out. How many craftsmen are there left?

Harold James is a craftsman of the highest order. The quality ,perfection and the service you will not find at many other butchers. His staff are excellent and have been well trained by this master craftsman. Many of the products such as his sausages are his own recipe. The shop is well stocked with many local items to compliment your dishes. Nothing is to much trouble for him and his staff. It is a pleasure to go in to his shop. Harold is a quiet man who deserves recognition for his service. I wish him well in this competition.

Harold is an absolute craftsman being the last of the real traditional butchers in Cricklade. All the meat is locally produced and carefully hung in hygenic conditions. Tender is the key word for all Harold's beef, lamb and pork. His homemade pies are out of this world and must be the meatiest , tastiest ones available. His home cured bacon is just like what mum served. No white scum when cooked. Try his home cured hams. No wet slime here! His scotch eggs are legendary. Be there early wednesday morning and you can have them still warm from the oven. It is noteworthy that Harold's products are tested once a year without warning by the Wiltshire CC food / hygiene department. He has the letters to show his independently tested sausages achieve a lean meat content in excess of 75%, the highest in Cricklade. No rubbish additives are used. It's all fresh and correctly prepared. The bonus? All his customers are called by their first names, a lovely friendly man and supplying the very best meat at the cheapest prices.
