Barry does the lot, everything from rabbit to wild boar, whatever you require you can be sure to pick it up here.No more superstore rubbish for us any longer. All the meat is top notch, you can taste the difference with out a doubt. Since finding this gem about a year ago we never buy meat, veg, eggs, milk and bread anywhere else. You must give it a try.Just check out the size of the lamb&pork chops, they're huge!Oh and you must pick up some duck eggs, you won't go back to chicken eggs after trying these believe me.

Barry is a farmer who has managed to keep the licence for his small abbatoir. If the meat you see isn't from his farm you can be sure it is from a neighbouring one and that he knows exactly how the livestock has been reared. He creates a wide range of delicious prepared meat products, and his bacon is some of the best we have ever tasted. We have moved a long way north, but we have yet to find a butcher in North Nottinghamshire who comes close to Barry, and we still call in at every available opportunity.

As new customers we have been very impressed with quality and choice available. The service is also fantastic with help and advise always being at hand. A truly brilliant butcher that comes highly recommended.

When you buy mince from a supermarket, it shrinks. When you buy mince from Barry Fitch, you need half the quantity, because it expands. The prices may seem a bit expensive if you are used to supermarket prices, but you are paying for top quality meat, not for water and additives. Not only are you getting the best meat, but you know it comes from an animal that has been well-cared for throughout its life, and that has travelled only a mile or two to its final destination. Produce in the shop changes with the seasons, and the quality reflects this seasonality.

As others have said Barry (and all the staff) are always ready to advise on what to cook and how. Having previously only purchased for special occasions such as Christmas when we like to have 'something different', we now buy more frequently because of the quality and service and the desire not to have 'supermarket' inferior meat. This summer the vast array of imaginative & superb barbeque items has been fabulous. We've tried everything and particular favourite was the lemon chicken kebabs.

A top quality butcher, who is rightly proud of the quality of produce he serves. The meat is home reared and hung correctly before it is offered for sale. No supermarket rubbish here!! This is a proper quality butchers.

Barry Fitch's shop is the sort of place you dream about if you love food. Barry and his team always take time to serve you, the meat and produce is of the highest quality and reasonably priced. As a young cook, I have often asked Barry's advice about a particular cut of meat or the requirements for a special dinner party dish. He will cut a piece to match your exact requirements - no matter how busy the shop is. I also love the tomatoes, fresh eggs, pork pies, and sausage rolls available in the shop.

Food is locally sourced and the meat is always of the highest quality. We have never been disappointed with any purchase. Marinaded cuts and home baked pies are particular favorites.

Barry has been in the butchery business all his working life. His whole family are in the business with him. He also farms, and rears much of his own meat. His father before him reared magnificient pigs, second to none for flavour and quality. He is one of the few master butchers left in this country who have their own slaughterhouse.

He (and his family) bake bread, pies, speciality meats and much more.

He supplies many reputable local restaurants.

Every customer is treated courteously, with most being known by their first names.

He delivers to local addresses, and will always prepare dishes to the customer's specification.

He has trained those members of staff who are not family. Some have moved on, only to return a few years later, not having been able to find an employer with such high standards.

Truly an excellent butcher, worthy of consideration for any award.
