The owners are keen to keep the menu changing with the seasons, as they believe that food tastes best when it is in season and has not travelled across the globe. They also have a vegetarian/vegan menu but customers must give 24 hours notice if you wish to order from this.

The Isle of Wight is slowly throwing off its 1950s bucket and spade image and The Essex is one of the quality restaurants that is helping to make the Island a destination of quality. What a fine dining experience. We had local sea bass and lamb from their own farm and the pudding. Fantastic.
