I've dreamed about finding a company like this - ethical, local, organic, fairtrade, environmentally friendly - and at a price I can afford! Fantastic!

These guys have it sorted... Because of how they source their produce I don't really have to think about what I'm buying, other than which delights to choose each week! Some of the fresh goodies are picked the day of my delivery and from about a mile up the road, so freshness, taste and food miles are all taken care of. They're commitment to seasonal food is enlightened and we've found it makes food exciting again, remember when you were a child and strawberries were juicy and sweet and just simply the taste of summer, or how you so look forward to when parsnips are back on the dinner table as the winter nights draw in... fabulous! They've got such a great range of quality produce I haven't been to the supermarket in more than a year. What's more it doesn't cost that much more than a supermarket - well, I think it's pretty similar to the likes of Waitrose or Ocado, which is why I switched to The Ethical Food Company... and it tastes sooooo much better!

The Ethical Food Campany provides high quality food at extremely good prices. I am still dreaming of the bbq we had on sat, all sourced from Ethical which involved delicious lamb and mint burgers and sausages....Heros!

What impressed me most about the ethical food company was the delicious lamb i got from there about a month ago - it was tender and totally different to anything i'd ever tasted from the supermarket. I live in london and it was more expensive that anything i'd get from the supermarket but it was worth the money!

What really impressed me about this company was the pure quality of the food. It really was better than anything I have bought in a supermarket, for not a whole load more money.

With a new range of ready meals, i find that, even with a heavy work schedule, they can supply me with a healthy and substantial meal. At the weekends I cook with their delicious meats, which are all localally produced and am particually keen on their bbq selection, with the marinades. I've recommended them and hope they can come out ontop...!

The Ethical Food Company is a brilliant young company that supports organic and ethical food. The small staff team work extremely hard to make sure their customers have the very best service and products, at great value. They also support their local communities and help young people learn about ethical and sustainable food, so that they become responsible and healthy consumers in the future. Vote for the Ethical food Company now!

Very friendly staff who go out of their way to help. Hugely entertaining weekly emails that will have you laughing out loud! Quality of produce is excellent. Service is excellent. Delivery is excellent. Online ordering very easy and value for money on their veg/fruit boxes is outstanding. Overall, a unique company more than doing their bit for the environment and fairtrade- therefore, so are you.

Hi, I joined the company in December of last year and have become so empassioned by the committment to supplying the best quality local and organic produce that I have since invested! What I love is the constant battle to drag people away from the routine of the dreaded supermarkets and the satisfaction in knowing that once they taste the difference, there is no going back!

We are just about to tuck into our organic full english breakfast which was beautifully boxed and delivered about 15 minutes ago, in time for a lazy Saturday morning. The ordering couldn't be easier, the people are very friendly and helpful, and the choice is huge and inexpensive. It's great to know you can still enjoy and support good, fresh, seasonal local produce and live in London.

A good while ago I phoned up with an 'unusal' request, the staff counldn't have been more helpful. Food supplied was top notch - if they still do the sampler boxes order a breakfast box for this weekend and enjoy a quality Sunday moring food fest

The food is delicious (try the sausages, yum) the staff enthusiastic, friendly & deliver to your kitchen table with a smile. Good locally sourced bakery, meat, & veg from just down the road. It couldn't be fresher and it's so easy to order. Esther1

This company gives a sense of freedom - both in the knowledge that you are supporting local farms and businesses and that you are doing your bit to help the planet. There is also a freedom from the grind of going round a supermarket and not knowing what is in your food or where it has come from, and you are not lining the pockets of the fat cats. And the fact that it is all delivered is bliss! And that is only the start! Helpful, friendly, accessible staff; wonderful fresh, tasty produce (especially the local fruit and veg in season). Our meals taste so different, and it is a joy to cook with the produce. Christmas this year was stress-free because I bought everything here, and knew that I didn't have to worry. Instead of getting into your car, you can sit at the computer or phone with a cuppa and order at leisure. I enjoy looking to see what is new each week, and because you tend to buy most things seasonally, you appreciate them more and look forward to them. We need to keep our country farming, and this company helps us to be a part of that. Sylvia, Padbury

This company is fab because of its uniqueness - I have not come across a company before that offers such a diverse and comprehensive range of goodies, which are all fairly traded and/or organic and/or locally sourced. Customer service is also excellent because the people behind the operation are friendly and really know what they are talking about - the research is done thoroughly and conscientiously so that you can trust that what you see is what you get!! Oh, and it tastes amazing as well (maybe I should have put that first!) Hooray for the Ethical Food Company!

This is a new small company that, as far as I can find are unique. They offer a supermarket style home shopping service but with a superb range of products, of which many are locally made. Whether it's fruit, veg., meat, dairy, sauces, biscuits, spreads, bread, flour... pretty much anything.. I can shop from home and feel good about it knowing most of it has not travelled far and supports my local community - feels great and tastes great!

I can't remember when I found TEFCO! But they were just starting up and I cannot imagine my weekly food delivery being any other way now. The food is -(fresh veg , salad , ham etc) delicious. I love the fact that the milk, bread , salad comes from just up the road. I have a passion for fishcakes and TEFCO supply handmade from Cornwall - Not local - but what this country should be about supporting specialists, homemade and organic. PLUS, quite often you get a little surprise with your order that you didn't pay for - like a suede or avocado or bunch of celery or something! Instead of binning waste its distributed throughout the customers with a little note. Plus all the packaging is robust and collected each week to to be used again. I could rave for hours about TEFCO- but I need to go and place this weeks order................

Anything that is done to promote animal welfare and keep some of those dreadful pesticides out of us gets my vote! Really friendly and helpful staff, nothing is ever too much trouble.

It's the personal touch. It is time for a change in attitude towards what we eat and the EFC is leading the way with its standards of quality and service.

The Ethical Food Company has specialist knowledge in both food and cooking, plus the science and ethics of food production, from local business and organics to animal welfare and fairtrade. The result? An outstanding service bringing local foods to those who may otherwise not have access to fantastic products.

Fantastically helpful and knowledgeable staff and great produce. The honey is delicious and a wonderful means of preventing hay fever as it is from local bees.

Andy 24 Andy 24 Posted 24 Jul 2006 6:48 PM

The friendly staff know you when you ring or email them, the food is very competitively priced and always fresh. It will deliver to your door, suggest foods for you if you are in doubt as to what you want. A refreshing change to the 'plastic' foods found in your supermarket. Nothing is supplied if it cannot be ehically sourced for instance some fish is not supplied during the breeding season to preserve the stocks and all fish is caught ethically of the coast of the UK. It helps me reduce my 'food miles'.

Kevin 2 Kevin 2 Posted 24 Jul 2006 4:43 PM

This is an online company which supplies ethically sourced foods that you can select from their online catalogue. This is updated weekly depending on what is available and in season, and they will either deliver your order to your house or you can choose to pick it up. Their web address is www.ethicalfoods.co.uk. The food they supply is local and/or organic and/or fair trade and/or meets stringent animal welfare standards.
