Elizabeth Botham & Sons

Bakery / Patisserie Café

Selling: Bread / Bakery

Since 1865, this family run craft bakery, located in the ancient port of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast, has been producing a range of biscuits, plum bread and cakes using original recipes and fine quality ingredients. Elizabeth Botham began the selling her baked goods door to door and at markets to support her thriving family. The overwhelming response soon turned into a shop, one that is still managed by the Bothams today.

Quality, service, value for money - the best thing since before sliced bread and still going strong

My absolute favourite bakery on the face of the planet. Superb bread, cakes, pastries, biscuits, Yorkshire favourites like Curd Tart and Yorkshire Brack not to mention teas, pies and celebration cakes. Their restaurant is heaven, always with a good veggie alternative to the superb fayre served there. If you visit Whitby then go to Bothams and enjoy quality and a taste of the past.

The staff in the cafe are very friendly and the food in the bakery has been excellent for generations.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the superb hand-raised pork pies - unbeatable anywhere.

A cracking craft bakery providing unfussy produce. I'm particularly fond of the rib roll and strawberry tarts - the proof that summer has come to whitby

Family favourite. Something for all the family. Personal favourites are the Gingerbread and the iced buns (eaten the yorkshire way!)

Don't forget the wholemeal and rye - a seriously good bread! Only complaint - you often have to queue.

A pleasure. Endevour tea is the best cuppa in Yorkshire & this is the place to drink it. Elegant & polite, but my four year old still felt comfortable - everyone does! Knocks the socks off Bettys

Craft bakery and tearooms with a superb selection of cakes, pastries and tea breads. The upstairs tearoom on Skinner Street is like walking into the past – nothing has changed since Victorian times. The staff dressed in black and whites are wonderfully polite, and serve delicious traditional English meals. Afternoon Tea with a pot of fine Darjeeling or their Resolution tea is a treat!

Excellent range of home baked goods. Specialities include Plum Bread and the wonderful sticky Ginger Brack. They have a mail order service from their website. Also, the local delicacy Yorkshire Curd Tart is superbly represented.
