Why go anywhere else? Best tasting fruit and veg ever. We love it!

Receiving a box from Riverford is like having christmas every week. Especially when you've forgotton it's coming and there it is waiting on the doorstep. I have found the all the delivery men most helpful and pleasant, and the quality of what they bring is very high. I eat nearly all veg raw, so the taste is really important, and I loooove this veg. I put everything in plastic bags, adding a little water to the greens and lettuces and seal them to be refrigerated. That way stuff is still fresh a week later. I find the boxes to be good value and the bag of juicing carrots to be excellent value. I often read the accompanying letter and admire the authentic approach of Guy Watson. I would love to visit the farm one day. Well done, please please keep it coming.

I love using fruit and veg that is seasonal. Even though there is a little more work with them (washing clumps of mud off carrots, drowning bugs on lettuces) the taste is amazing. Reminds me of my younger days when dad grew all our own veg.... It has made me more aware of air freighted produce...If I run out of anything mid-week, i will buy local unorganic rather than organic that has come from "Chile, New Zealand". Many thanks to Guy Watson.....

Riverfords are fantastic. Delicious, seasonal, fresh food without all the chemical enhancers / preservers AND great packaging that is all easily recycled. And really importantly producers are paid a fair price for their food. Over the last year with Riverfords I have well and truly stepped out of my cooking comfort zone and have cooked things I would never have bought - and am so pleased I have discovered them!

A huge variety of veg from an organisation which takes its environmental credentials just as seriously as it does customer satisfaction and great quality. Riverford are way ahead of the game in caring for the environment in a meaningful way and not just for PR purposes. This means a lot when the product is also so good. Why go anywhere else?

We've been getting a box for over 2 years. I rave about it! The online ordering is very easy, we can submit an individual order each week, which means we can pick our box and add in our extras depending on what's happening that week. Riverford have an automatic payment option, and our distributor, Ged, locks our delivery in a cupboard on the doorstep. And the items you can buy keep getting better. All in all, great.

elissajay elissajay Posted 13 Jul 2008 10:10 AM

The fruit, veg and meat are tasty, prices are cheaper than supermarket's and the team love what they do and share their passion through the weekly newsletter. I have been a client for one year now and recommend it to all my friends!

mp5 mp5 Posted 13 Jul 2008 12:08 AM

The quality of the vegetables is of course excellent. But what I epecially appreciate is the flexibility. Most veg box schemes insist that you take a box each week, and only cancel on the odd occasion such as being on holiday. I am single, and often work away from home, so cannot commit to a box each week. But with Riverford I can wait till 2 days before my delivery date before deciding whether to place a delivery, and then chose any box or combination of produce.

Basically - i dont understand why everyone doesnt have a box from here!! Its cheaper, friendlier and you know where its come from!!! We have been having boxes for four years now and get our milk from here too! We also have a meat box every month and it is so delicious. Delivered to your door!

nickers3 nickers3 Posted 12 Jul 2008 6:14 PM

The vegetables in my box are consistently of a high standard, and even though I usually have a mini box, for 1 person, they include interesting vegetables as well. They are MUCH cheaper and infinitely better quality than supermarket organic. And I don't have to carry them home!

drama queen3 drama queen3 Posted 12 Jul 2008 4:36 PM

I look forward to my friday veg box as the taste of the produce supercedes most supermarket 'organic' produce. I usually have a few extras aswell, and we thoroughly enjoy the fresh organic free range eggs simply poached with buttered toast. YUMMY!!!

Passion for good, honest food; down to earth (in more then one way!), reliable, value for money, expertise, commitment, loads of good recipes and veeeery tasty veggies delivered to your door - why use Tesco's any longer?

My husband runs his delivery business for Riverford in North London and we have also been a customer for the last 6 years. I love the quality of the produce and am even happier now that we can get meat from them too. I might sound biased, but I am reviewing from the point of view of a customer. The produce is important but the customers are even more important. If you want a box scheme for fruit, veg and meat, this is your man!

Clementine2 Clementine2 Posted 12 Jul 2008 9:27 AM

We have a box every 2 weeks which would have meant no box for Christmas. However Riverford contacted us and offered a box which they could deliver on the 23rd Dec. I accepted and at 11.55pm it arrived! That's dedication to filling the Christmas tables of their customers with yummy vegetables!

lou171 lou171 Posted 12 Jul 2008 9:10 AM

I have been with Riverford for 4 years now and love the seasonal varience in the boxes. That and the weekly updates from the farm make me feel realy conected to my food in a way going to any shop or supermarket just couldn't compare. It is cheaper too, I think. Keep up the good work.

Their enthusiasm and love for their work, staff, product and scheme generally. Plus the fruits and veggies are delicious, not surrounded by offensive plastic and my kids love them! Thank you X

Riverford and their team provide lovely fruit and veg boxes at a decent cost and delivered to your door. Because I know how hard everyone has worked for my box, I won't waste any of it, my freezer is stacked with soup for the winter! Continue the brilliant work team Riverford!

Thank you very much at riverford for all your hard work that involves bringing my box to my family each week. It is especially important to me that my youngest son eats organic fruit and veg as he has cystic fibrosis and i have to keep a close eye on what he eats. My fingernails are growing so long and strong! im convinced its all the vitamins and minerals in riverfords organic fruit and veg! grandad thinks this too! God Bless x

Over the past 15 years we've tried just about every box scheme there is, but we switched to Riverford 3 years ago and have never looked back. What attracted me initially was the variety in the boxes, but what keeps me is the superb quality of the produce and the flexibility of the scheme. We have also appreciated Guy's weekly newsletters - they give us an appreciation for the challenges organic farmers face, and they also help to create a link with the producers of our food. Many of our friends have switched and been extremely satisfied. The fact that Guy has actively supported the development of similar schemes elsewhere in the country is also very rewarding.

i have been ordering from riverford for almost 2 years, are visting relatives in buckfastleigh. i have been a chef for 13 years now and i was just amazed at how fantastic the produce was and is. they have inspired me so many times in the past 2 years, and my daughter of 15 months enjoys everything i cook from the box. And the meats are amazing too!

cd5 cd5 Posted 10 Jul 2008 11:02 PM

Christmas comes every Thursday when I receive my Riverford delivery. The quality of the vegetables is nothing short of superb. This is not 'tick the organic box' stuff - this is vegetables chock full of flavour that are a pleasure to cook with. I've been getting a box now for the last 8 or 9 years and amazingly it still seems to be getting better each year. The Riverford Cafe which is adjacent to where some of the veg are grown is an absolute pleasure to eat at. Really top quality food in a warm, welcoming and friendly environment. We recently took our kids to a cooking event for children and they had a wonderful time whilst we ate another great meal. I would rather eat there than most......not quite all :-) but most restaurants I've been to in the UK.

davidputtick davidputtick Posted 10 Jul 2008 10:23 PM

We have been customers of Riverford for some years and will continue to be. In these tough times vegetables are cheap, even relatively expensive vegetables. Discounting the planet-saving and nutritional benefits, the stuff that arrives in our Riverford box just tastes so much better than ordinary vegetables. I couldn't go back to eating the intensively farmed coloured lumps of cellulose that pass for vegetables in most outlets.

scaraminger scaraminger Posted 10 Jul 2008 7:51 PM

Checking out my box is like Christmas every week! The stuff is super-fresh and always delicious, and I've learnt to cook things I'd never have picked up in the supermarket. I can't imagine ever buying another pre-washed lettuce.

kmgepsom kmgepsom Posted 10 Jul 2008 6:09 PM

I previously thought organic vegetable box schemes were expensive and shied away from them, until a friend recommended Riverford. Compared to my local Waitrose, the veg boxes are very reasonably priced and provide a good selection. Admittedly there are some items that get repetitive during the seasons, but that's what happens with seaonal produce. Plus they have a really wide range of box options, and it is easy to make changes on a weekly basis if you so wish. Now I have started using them, I wouldn't buy my veg any other way!

debbietaylor1972 debbietaylor1972 Posted 10 Jul 2008 5:53 PM

There's the fun of finding hither-to unknown vegetables which stretch the cooking skills and access to a large database of recipes on the website where you can also amend your order from a range of different sized and different interest boxes and add extras - from potatoes via pork to Pinot grigio. I like the Riverford attitude, you can keep in touch with what's going on and understand a bit more about the principles by reading the weekly newsletter, often very entertaining; kids' activity sheets come during the school holidays. It's as 'purist' as you want it to be, but it's not forced down you throat - even metaphorically.

jeni_hope jeni_hope Posted 10 Jul 2008 2:46 PM

Riverford are great - they have been at the forefront of the organic movement for years. Delivering us the best organic fruit and veg and now a whole range of other foods. I like the fact that included in the box is always an interesting recipe or two. They run a cafe near one of my children where I am hoping to go and enjoy one of their delicious meals. I do hope they win.

Tul1 Tul1 Posted 10 Jul 2008 2:14 PM

I am total devotee of Riverford. I think it's economical because you don't end up buying extra bits and bobs for each meal. It encourages you to do some planning and make some more creative meals. The vegetables are always lovely and well presented with a minimum of packaging. It's so nice to just get your hands on the veg and not worry about having to throw plastic bags away. The taste of organic vegetables is completely different. A sceptic friend of mine recently came over and started complaining about how much food cost, and how organic food was a rip off. When she tasted a raw Riverford carrot and looked at the box prices, she was completely convinced that she was being ripped off by the supermarkets! You will use less salt, fewer flavourings and have to do less work to make your food taste nice. The extras with Riverford are really good too, such as the beany burgers and chocolate.

Georgia6 Georgia6 Posted 10 Jul 2008 1:47 PM

the fruit and veg is always super fresh and very tasty. I love the fact that the box is on my doorstep when i get home from work and that there is always a delicious recipe to help me use everything in an exciting way. I also love the fact that i can go online and easily modify my order if i need more or less of a particular thing. I can cancel a weekly order if i am going on holiday, and have some items once a week, others only once a fortnight or every three weeks. It is so easy and flexible. Actually it works out much cheaper than buying from he supermarket and is definitely much nicer. I think Riverford is fabulous.

sue355 sue355 Posted 10 Jul 2008 10:23 AM

My daughter gave me the final push i needed to order the veg and fruit box - she raves on about it to everyone; the quality of the service, the delicious taste of the food, the economic and environmental benefits, the excitement of new found veg and experimenting with new recipes. We look forward to thursday mornings when our veg box comes, the anticipation of not quite knowing what is going to be in there and we are never disappointed. The weekly newsletter keeps us updated on the latest issues to do with Riverford and really shows how much they care for their food, their customers, not to mention the environment. Riverford is the best thing since sliced carrots!

Vanessa17 Vanessa17 Posted 10 Jul 2008 9:18 AM

Been using Riverford for four years now, firstly in Bristol, now in Cornwall. Always been very impressed with the contents of each box and enjoy having someone else decide what veg we have each week!

Matt120 Matt120 Posted 10 Jul 2008 9:09 AM

I love coming home on Wednesday evenings to find my veg box - it brings a little of South Devon and what living is really about to urban life.

GinaF GinaF Posted 09 Jul 2008 11:11 PM

You will not find fresher or tastier fruit and veg anywhere. This is quality and value with knobs on!

Riverford Home Delivery is brilliant. I got my first box last November and get one delivered each week by a lovely guy called Nick. Getting the box is the highlight of my week! I now cook far more meals from scratch and choose recipes which use the contents of my box. The fruit and vegetables are so much better than supermarket stuff - lots of flavour and freshness - and of course organic and locally sourced or shipped from another country. No air freighting for Riverford. I like the weekly newsletters which are included in the box and have learnt so much from them. My family and I are wholly vegetarian and we have now eaten certain vegetables for the first time ever - helped by the extensive menus on their website. I hope Riverford goes from strength to strength and I heartily recommend their boxes.

Riverford Rocks! We are HUGE fans. They have a deep rooted passion for their produce and it shows. The veg actually tastes like veg should and its grown in as close to natural conditions as possible We recently holidayed in Devon and it was the culinary highlight of my week to visit the field kitchen at Riverford. Jane Baxter's cooking was a sheer delight and the kids got to see the veg being hand picked from the fields. WE LOVE RIVERFORD!!

anasaskia anasaskia Posted 09 Jul 2008 5:51 PM

Joining the Riverford Box scheme 18 months ago was the best food purchase decision I have ever made. The vegetables are always fresh and always delicious in all seasons of the year. Boxes are very reasonably priced considering the amount and variety included each week. Ordering on-line is incredibly easy and very flexible with different size boxes available. On a visit to Devon we shopped at the farm store, discovered their meat is as delicious as the vegetables, and when our local butcher shut earlier this year, we began ordering meat boxes too.

jecadebu jecadebu Posted 09 Jul 2008 4:07 PM

Ordering my first box in the scheme was one of the best decisions I ever made. The quality of the vegetables is outstanding, and the flavour is unbelievable. We now eat veg we thought we did'nt like - carrots, cabbage, etc., because we now realise how bland and flavourless so much supermarket veg is. Meals we eat are planned around our box contents, and we find it much easier to eat our '5' a day. Rock on Riverford!!!!!!

foodiexxx foodiexxx Posted 09 Jul 2008 12:27 PM

Riverford is very committed to good quality organic produce as per the Soil Association standards. No GM here. They do not air freight and are eco aware. The fruits and vegetables are selected for flavour which makes them very good and nutritious. I look forward to eating the fruits and veg in the correct season and which is fresh! Best of luck and I think they desreve to get an award for the work they are doing.

It tastes good! Easy to order and adjust orders on line, delivered to your door, variety, excellent value, keeps you in touch with how your food is grown , where it comes from etc. Wonderful field kitchen, wish I lived nearer. Excellent customer service, newsletter keeps you in touch with current issues. We don't eat much meat, but I have tried the meat box and now order one for special ocassions - quality you can trust. Coffee is really good aswell - an example of well sourced produce, carefully selected and I know this because that information is passed on to customers through the newsletter or on the website. Its the best scheme, run by people who are passionate about what they do and can do.

I have saved pounds by not going to the supermarket and so love getting our box of fruit and veggies every week. I work full time, but am enjoying making good wholesome food with what's available, knowing it's fresh as it can be and hasn't travelled the world. Love the website too! ordering is a cinch and our delivery guy is brilliant. Also love the newsletters and menu ideas. Good to try things that I wouldn't normally eat as well!

Dives Dives Posted 08 Jul 2008 3:26 PM

The quality of fruit and vegetables from Riverford is second to none. I've tried other box schemes which tend to have over-ripe produce, so I know a good thing when I see it! The freshness of the Riverford food is outstanding and the flavours are wonderful. After 18 months of using the scheme, we still rave about the flavour of the potatoes! Top quality food, great taste and very friendly and helpful service - what more could you want?! Well done Riverford, you're the tops. :-)

We started getting boxes from Riverford because we wanted to vary the veg we eat, half of it I would never choose in the supermarket, but it's good for making you try different veg and trying out new dishes. I love being able to give our two year old fresh, seasonal veg. Good work!! Also just ordered our first meat box, can't wait for that!

I love getting the boxes - it's like Christmas every Tuesday! In the past couple of years I've tried all kinds veg I wouldn't even have picked up in the past. It's all delicious and fresh, lasting much longer than supermarket veg. We had a lovely meal at Riverford and I'm dying to go back. I can't wait till our little girl is old enough to enjoy their activities for children. Since I started getting the boxes, 4 more people in work get them now, including one person who swapped box suppliers as she was so impressed with the choice and range. Well done Riverford!

ackers1 ackers1 Posted 08 Jul 2008 9:44 AM

Have been using Riverford for a few years now and love the quality and the service. My 5 year old boy can't wait to see what comes in the box - most people wouldn't believe that a 5 year old could get so excited about veg expecially the very large pieces of calabrese broccoli!! After visiting the River Norton 1st birthday celebrations at the weekend, you only had to see the state of my 9month old daughters face after the strawberries - and arms, top, legs etc come to that - to see what it is all about. I couldn't want my kids to eat better.

jdsmum jdsmum Posted 07 Jul 2008 4:25 PM

Riverford boxes are very good quality and represent excellent value for money. We never have to waste anything: all unwanted leaves, stalks, tops etc go straight into the compost; all packaging is returned and reused. I particularly like the way that the company is conducting its own research into the most CO2 efficient products and gives customers the information they need to make a balanced choice. The newsletters that accompany the boxes make you feel part of an extended family as well as keeping you up to date with local and national agricultural issues. All the staff are friendly efficient and very helpful, our deliverer often opens the kitchen door for me when I collect the box and always has a friendly word. My husband was put off most vegetables, by overcooked salty greens as a child and took a lot of persuasion to increase his repertoire of carrots and peas, until we became Riverford Box customers and now he will try most things and likes many more vegetables which makes catering much easier. He cannot believe how fresh and tasty everything is. Our children attended a cookery and eat event during the holidays and had a great time, but also learned a lot too. I am very impressed with the philosophy that permeates the whole enterprise and really cannot praise Riverford enough.

Riverford has been a revelation and we will never buy our fruit and veg from a supermarket ever again. We love Riverford and all the team who deliver the freshest, tastiest fruit and vegetables right to our front door. There is also a great variety to choose from and sometime a surprise item, which we have enjoyed learning how to cook. Thanks Riverford.

It's great when our boxes arrive each week, beautifully packed full of fresh, colourful and enticing fruit and veg! I feel like we (the customers) are all part of the big Riverford family, enjoying nourishing fresh food and doing our bit for the environment too. Forget tasteless, mass produced food covered with chemicals - this is the real deal! Our local distributors, Jill and Steve Dowling also deserve a mention for providing excellent and friendly service. Well done everyone!

I love their produce, their customer service, their passion, the feel-good factor, the team-work and their vision. My family look forward to the boxes, sometimes having to play the 'what the heck is this? vegetable game. The flexibility and information in the website is superb. I can't rate them enough especially for getting me to think about food and what it means, especially in this island of fertile fields.......

Wow! Fridays would never be the same without "the delivery" - I'm always excited waiting for the box and reading Guy's newsletter. I plan my weekend shop and meals around it. It's especially exciting when the seasons change and we get a new veg!. Shop-bought just don't compare with the quality, taste and freshness - it's so therapeutic washing the soil of the carrots before cooking and knowing it hasn't travelled far. The only thing that can beat it is when we grow our own!

Landa1 Landa1 Posted 01 Jul 2008 10:21 PM

I have been getting boxes from Riverford for 4 years now and, after initial scepticism from my husband, he is now a fan of fresh organic veg too! The first time he had a supermarket carrot after getting used to the Riverford tasty variety was all the evidence he needed to convince him. Tasty food, easy to change your order, lots of choice and education about farming too. Everything that's needed to get you thinking about where your food comes from, and cooking better!

We fairly new to Riverford deliveries but each week when our fruit and veg arrives each week my 18 month old daughter is delighted and tries to eat everything in one go. Their website is fantastically easy, from placing a regular order to adding extra bits each week (the Chocolate Alchemist is better than anything i have ever tasted). My only wish is that i had found them years ago!

Fantastic fresh veg and fruit - tastes SO much better than supermarket organic - delivered with a smile and from someone who is quite happy to meet my challenge when I say "I don't like Jerusalem artichoke - now how do I cook those?" So far, Stewarts recipes have meant I have had to reverse my opinion on anything I have tried! This box could change your life - or at least the way you eat!

The whole family is looking forward to Saturday's delivery ... my son, 2 1/2 can't wait for the 'Gemuese Mann" to ring at the door. I've been a customer of Riverford for at least 3 years and cannot praise them highly enough. Easy on-line ordering, excellent delivery sevice and above all fantastic, organic seasonal veg at a very reasonable price. It's a brilliant way to try some veg you probably wouldn't pick up in a supermarket and to find new recipes to use these veg in! Seeing my 4 and 6 year olds (and husband!) tucking into spinach, beetroot, purple sprouting brocolli and much more is fantastic. Thank you Guy and all the team.

Hooray for Riverford Organics! I've been a customer for about eighteen months and still get excited by my delivery. Having food that is seasonal and local has revived my interest in cooking and my family and I are healthier for it. The produce is always fresh and very tasty. The meat boxes are exceptional; such beautiful chickens-- they taste wonderful.

I have joined Riverford box scheme only a few months ago after the recommendations of a friend and that's the best decision I could make about food! My husband and 8-year old boy agree. Not only their fruit & veg taste great (just like from my parents' garden) but their scheme is very flexible thanks to a great web site. Your orders are easy to manage and you can change to a different style/size box now and again. We have now tried their meat box and eggs and we think it's fantastic taste & value. It forces me to use vegetables that I would never dream of buying, thanks to their suggestions and recipes, I can easily plan my meals around it. A great thank you to Riverford for reminding us how food is meant to taste.

SandrineC SandrineC Posted 24 Jun 2008 4:28 PM

Riverford is fantastic. The box contents are listed ahead of time each week, and there are a variety to choose from. They even make a favorites box so you're never stuck with something you don't know how to cook. And they list carbon information based on the source of contents of each box. In addition, you can order individual items rather than a whole box, and they have a ton of extra goodies - museli, veg burgers, sauces and even organic wines. Ordering is easy, delivery is very considerate, they send along a flyer with tips and hints for the contents of the box and an update on the farm, and the tomatoes are FANTASTIC. Best box scheme I've been involved with.

katieg1 katieg1 Posted 24 Jun 2008 1:10 PM

The fruit and veg in these boxes is of superb quality and organic. I use to spend more at my green grocers buying regular fruit and veg of poor quality. A very very happy costumer.

paow paow Posted 24 Jun 2008 11:28 AM

I am one of the newer customers so far very pleased with the whole experience. I believe everyone can pick up something from their produce, now there is no obligation to purchase the core boxes so you can actually create your personal box as you like it! Thanks for eatable honest fruit and veg- To EVERYONE involved especially to Guy Watson for establishing the farm back in 1985 we truly need more farmers taking this route...

My box is always filled with lovely fresh vegetables and my delivery man is always friendly (he even returned at the end of the day once with a bag of onions that had come out of my box - the only ever time something was missing I hasten to add!) My little girl is 2 and we sit down every Friday when my box is delivered and go through the vegetables tasting what she can. Last week she tried lovely sweet broad beans for the first time & she can already recognise and say a whole variety of fruit & vegetables. Good food, good service & good value. Give it a go!

francineerica francineerica Posted 23 Jun 2008 2:16 PM

Riverford offer delicious organic fruit and veg at a reasonable price. Our distributor is efficient each week and the produce is 'fresh from the fields'. We have been using Riverford for about 3 years and highly recommend them. Finally, having two young children, having the novelty of a box arriving from a farm each week helps with encouraging heathly eating!

RGILL RGILL Posted 23 Jun 2008 12:14 PM

I've been using Riverford for 8 months now, and now they supply my fruit and veg, meat and milk (just need bread and i'll be sorted!). The quality is excellent, and we are eating a greater range of veg with the surprises that we find in our box. Its saving me money as well than going to the supermarket

We ahve been receiving the Riverford boxes for the last 3 years, it has transformed our eating, and we love the surprise of what might be in the box each week.....and absolutely amazing idea and we are very grateful to them for such a great servoce, we recommend it to everyone we meet!!

We have been buying vegetables from Riverford for many months, and have never been disappointed in the Quality or freshness of the produce supplied in their box scheme. We particularly look forward to the surprise items!!We have visited the Farm and eaten in the Field Kitchen and thought how delightful the family and their staff are, and how enjoyable the meal was. We have now added the supply of our milk for the week to our regular order. This is how milk should taste.

nev1960 nev1960 Posted 22 Jun 2008 3:11 PM

I love the flexibility of Riverford - you can order your box weekly, fortnightly or just now and again. Sometimes I order a small or medium vegbox, other weeks the fruit and veg box might look more like my cuppa tea. It's great to just look at the site update every Friday and choose what to order! I also agree with the people on here who've commented on the 'carrottyness' of the carrots - my daughter thought she didn't like them until she tried Riverford's carrots, even though I'd previously tried giving her supermarket organic carrots. Must be something in the Devon soil...

Cwacyr Cwacyr Posted 21 Jun 2008 10:01 PM

I have had my Riverford veg box delivered fortnightly now for 16 months. The quality and freshness of the veg is superb, the recipes on their website excellent, and we have saved lots of ££ because it is very much cheaper than buying in the supermarket.

Vicky63 Vicky63 Posted 21 Jun 2008 6:17 PM

I am a longstanding customer. I love the quality of the vegatables and the emphasis on seasonal produce - we love eating seasonally and it makes sense environmentally too. This is future of food and farming.

jas57 jas57 Posted 21 Jun 2008 4:01 PM

Riverford Organics are superb at what they do and they fully deserve this award. They are one of the few companies to provide the customer with straight, honest information about their produce, packaging and food origin. It is wonderful to be a customer of a company that believes seasonailty is sanity and their responsive, friendly team go out of their way to make you feel like you are part of a growing community. Riverford is the future of British food farming and other producers need to take a leaf out of their very comprehensive book.

ionamaclean ionamaclean Posted 21 Jun 2008 3:42 PM

This is food as it shoud be, unbeatable in every respect, I feel that I am closer to the grower and therfore closer to the source of my food I can only say thank you to Riverford for enabling us to eat brillant organic food. So "Thank you" Riverford and well done!

linda130 linda130 Posted 21 Jun 2008 3:32 PM

We love the vegetables- makes us more creative with our cooking, such good value AND I love Guy Watson's newsletter(rant) every week too. Read it and you will start to understand the meaning of passion and how important what Riverford do is.

crawfie1 crawfie1 Posted 21 Jun 2008 1:19 PM

Veg box every week is the best organic, seasonal ethical produce you can find. Try the meat box as well, always quality meats. I'm fortunate to be in Devon regularly, if you are too, do the farm tour, eat the food in the Field kitchen - I go nearly ewvery month!

Chef Andy Chef Andy Posted 21 Jun 2008 12:02 PM

I have been using Riverford for 18 months and have been amazed by the variety, freshness and taste of the vegetables, especially the carrots. I am never going back to bland veg from the supermarket now. If you get a chance visit their Field Kitchen to see how to really cook organic veg!

Tanoti Tanoti Posted 21 Jun 2008 8:39 AM

Excellent service and excellent products. Our weekly box always contains very fresh and varied vegetables.

geoh geoh Posted 20 Jun 2008 11:38 PM

As a new customer (6 months) I'm still astonished by the taste of riverford veg. Carrots taste so carroty!! Its a pleasure to support them in this award/competition and I'm so pleased that the company was mentioned to me by a work collegue, otherwise I might never have heard about them, and then I'd still be buying my fruit and veg from the supermarket, something I wouldn't dream of doing now!! Fingers crossed they win!!

nicellepix nicellepix Posted 20 Jun 2008 10:16 PM

I have tried many box schemes but this one is streets ahead of the competition. The freshness is amazing and the produce actually tastes like it has only just been picked. The presentation of the box and the quality is exceptional. The company has real ethical standards, standards that they actually believe and follow rather than some companies where you think it is only a marketing ploy! The value for money is also exceptional. I would, and have, recommended Riverford to anyone. A visit to the farm is a must as is a visit to the field kitchen.

AliRat1 AliRat1 Posted 20 Jun 2008 10:08 PM

Riverford consistently supply top quality veg boxes each week with the added flexibility to change your order at any time. On occasions they also give customers an extra item free - how many companies do that nowadays?

marywb marywb Posted 20 Jun 2008 7:25 PM

Never going back to supermarket veg. Riverford rocks! Best veg, best fruit, best meat and most fabulous cream in the UK.

Damaris1 Damaris1 Posted 20 Jun 2008 6:42 PM

It's such a delight to deal with Riverford - not only is every item high quality and their boxes delightfully diverse but also the personal approach I get makes fruit and veg a pleasure. They always have a smile for me and they even remember and talk to my dog! I truly admire their environmental policies and am happy to support them. I'm very happy to vote for Riverford: the try very hard and they succeed!

Vhay Vhay Posted 19 Jun 2008 9:13 PM

I have used Riverford for a couple of years and the standard of food and reliability are excellent. They are also very reasonably priced. It is lovely to come home on a Tuesday knowing that I have a pack of beautiful and sometimes very unusual vegetables to experiment with.

Rebecca14 Rebecca14 Posted 19 Jun 2008 5:17 PM

I have had fruit, veg, milk, cream, eggs and apple juice delivered weekly from Riverford for around 3 years, and my daughters have been virtually raised on it! The quality and the service is outstanding, and I fully appreciate the ethos behind it all. So much better than the less-than-fresh, packaged supermarket produce.

Alex701 Alex701 Posted 19 Jun 2008 3:55 PM

The boxes are so good I am still telling everyone who might be vaguely interested about Riverford a year after we started. The vegetables are always fresh and always delicious (and a bit cheaper than both the supermarket and our local organic shop). Like other reviewers I really look forward to delivery day, both for the food and for Guy's letter which is always worth reading, both about farming practice and about wider ecological issues. They are doing everything I would want them to do on my behalf as a producer.

Mitzi Alessandra Mitzi Alessandra Posted 19 Jun 2008 2:51 PM

I have been a customer for quite a while and have always found the produce to be of a high quality. It is convenient to have it delivered to the door, and my grandaughter is more inclined to eat Riverford veg. when told it comes from the farm.

The wide range of choices in a box scheme is remarkable. We have never been disappointed and are always excited to get the weeks box. Their newsletters reveal the dedication of Riveford to their ideals, keep you involved, are fun and a good read to boot. great company with hearts in the right place. Customer service through local agents absolutely brilliant and totally relaible.

Loc1 Loc1 Posted 18 Jun 2008 5:38 PM

I have been having vegetables and fruit boxes for the past 2 years or so, and am still as excited every Wednesday when it arrives as I was in the first week. Not only is the presentation mouthwatering, the taste is superb, and the selection varied. The service from the farm and my local distributor is excellent, and it is so refreshing to find an outlet who is more interested in customer service and environmental concerns. I cannot speak highly enough of Riverford, and Guy's ethos. It is exactly where we are coming from and his weekly newsletter is not only extremely informative, but also funny. A trip to the farm and a meal in the Field Kitchen is also a must. It was the best meal I have ever eaten and a wonderful experience. Riverford - please don't ever change!

Half of the fun of getting your weekly box is finding a fruit or vegetable that is slightly different. The items taste delicious and once you have tasted them you will find it hard to go back to anything else.

We've been using Riverford for about 6 months now, and heard about it after our son visited the farm with his class at school. Why we waited so long to try their veg, I really don't know! The boxes are incredible value, and amazing quality. The fruit and veg reminds me of the stuff my parents used to grow in their allotments! The taste is fantastic, and has really lifted what used to be just ordinary dishes. At first, with some of the more unusual items in the box, we were at a loss with what to do with them, but the recipes on their website are a great inspiration. We're spending about half of what we used to on veg now, and the best thing is that my son will now try anything - as long as it's from Riverford!

Anise76 Anise76 Posted 17 Jun 2008 6:31 PM

I have had a veg box from riverford for a number of years & now a meat box too. The company is awesome, they are constantly striving to maintain, develop & improver thier business. This would be the perfect award for them as local is what they r all about. They air freight nothing & are even able to tell you the co2 emissions of each box so you are able to make an informed choice. I have also visited the farm where it is clear the staff have passion for what they do. I believe there is no more deserving local food hero!

xmscott xmscott Posted 25 May 2008 12:46 PM

Riverford is FANTASTIC. It has completely changed the way we eat, and the variety of what we eat. I agree with another reviewer: our food bill has gone down since we started using them, because we are less often in the supermarket. The customer service is excellent, the vegetables have flavour: for example, I always used to put butter on my potatoes, but I don't know because the Riverford ones are so full of taste. We cannot imagine life without Riverford, and our diet has improved enormously as a result of eating the veg from their. Tuesday (delivery day) is one of the best days of the week!

Riverford is so special; it has changed our lifestyle completely. We enjoy eating new veggies and fruit each week, we love the fact that the veggies are grown in the next County to us, and when we get them they are so fresh. We reckon our food bill has gone DOWN since we have been using Riverford (a year), as we are not tempted by offers in the supermarket, and things don't "fall in the trolley"! We are sure their special offers are just to get rid of rubbish. Supermarkets bang their drums about supporting "local producers", but I'm pretty sure it all goes through a distribution hub, so has many miles on the clock by the time it reaches us. We'd rather eat muddy Riverford carrots, thanks! If you are ever in the area, we'd encourage you to book a tour and have a meal in their Field Kitchen - you will not be disappointed! Top quality all round.

Riverford is fantastic, the veg so fresh the soil still clings to them. My cooking now includes veg I would never have thought of buying including the broad beans my husband loves, and I am even getting a taste for them with their recipes!! When my husband was away I survived entirely on the veg box and the odd bit of fish.

Jax17 Jax17 Posted 04 Aug 2007 9:57 PM

I have been using Riverford for nearly two years now. I didn't realise that the water drained from my vegetables should have colour. Supermarket veg leaves the water as clear as when it went into the saucepan. Riverford fruit and veg has taught me to eat in season and I am sure we are much healthier as a result of their organic farming methods.

tsb1 tsb1 Posted 04 Aug 2007 5:52 PM

We have been Riverford customers for a number of years. Why is it brilliant? 1. The food is fresh, with the earth still clinging to it, it reminds me of the wonderful allotment veg I was brought up on. 2. The boxes all get returned to be re-used, nothing goes to waste and is never ever over packed unlike the supermarkets ! 3. It is fantastic value for money and makes organic affordable, unlike the supermarkets. 4. You know where all your box contents come from and that it is all grown in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. 5. All livestock has been treated ethically. 6. It encourages you to cook from scratch and eat less processed/ ready meals. It has a fantastic catalogue of recipes to choose from on their website. We cook every day and never eat ready meals, it's wonderful. 7. Riverford is fantastic for all these reasons and more, our health and well being has improved due to eating such wonderful produce and we have decreased our carbon foot print fourfold!! THANK YOU RIVERFORD

I have been a customer for a few months, and I now have a respect for vegetables that has been missing for supermarket veg. everything from you is super fresh and tastes amazing. When I make a soup I do not imagine the vegetables cooking away in a concoction that includes a cocktail of pesticides and precious few vitimins. I look forward to my box deliveries and spend time looking out veg recipes and I am pratically vegetarian. I love reading about the farm workings and empathise with your trials and tribulations.

mojo4 mojo4 Posted 03 Aug 2007 8:03 PM

I have been their customer two years now. Fruit and veg selection is great. They include products which I would not normaly buy myself, and this challenges me to find a recipe and prepare a different meal. The taste of fruit and veg is perfect, fresh and organic and when I wash muddy carrots or wet salad - not that I like that bit - but I KNOW they have been picked up a day before. So you can't ask for more from you local food supplier! Our delivery man is very good, two customer services queries that I had were dealt with promtly and resolved the next day. Easy online changes. And I really like their newsletters! I generaly don't read such things, but I have to read theirs, they are written in a very nice way and without being too direct they have an effect on me - they educate me about the environment, organic food etc. This company deserves a chance because they show a passion for what they do and they do it very well.

I have been a Riverford customer for a couple of years now and am still bowled over by just how good the fruit and veg they supply tastes and how much variety they are able to provide no matter what time of year it is. Even now, I can't wait to get home from work to see what is in my box each week. I've never had a problem with quality and reliability, even at busy times of the year like Christmas. The accessibility to their website makes ordering very easy and convenient. They have loads of info on the products plus recipes to help cook up something tasty when you get that "strange looking spikey green thing" in the box and you don't know what it is! The added bonus to me enjoying my organic life is that my visits to the supermarket have decreased dramatically, so saving me money - who says going organic is expensive! Thank you Riverford.

The Riverford box is really seasonal, while still maintaining quality/variety through the year. Between Guy Watson's little reports from the field and the produce in the box, it makes me far more aware than I used to be of where I am in the farming year - right now we're feasting on sweetcorn and looking forward to the start of the squash - just as the cooling days make hot thick soups and risottos so appealing.

Wonderful to have the opportunity to get three children interested and excited about vegetables - the weekly box is always a delight and the service second to none. More than anything, the weekly newsletter challenges and surprises and makes you want everyone in the country to buy organic boxes from local suppliers.

Guy Watson and his team are inspiring! They manage to provide an efficient, reliable & ethically sound service. And their produce is fantastic too! This company means that not only can farmers make a living the organic way, but also gives us, it's customers choices that the supermarkets have taken away.

Three cheers for the people who returned taste into vegetables and sent "salad, the silent killer" back to hell! I get all our fruit and veg from them every week and I have to say that after 6 months of it, I at last remember what such things taste like when lovingly and respectfully grown. Also, their delivery people are friendly and relaible and their selection of seasonal extras, weekly newsletter and receipes are FANTASTIC.

Nothing tastes as good as organic vegetables. The variety and quality of the Riverford box means eating is always tasty and interesting. I have been inspired to try new things and am never stuck for ideas since Riverford provide a recipe with the box each week or you can go to the fantastic website and find one there. They are the best - long may they prosper!

Tasty fresh fruit and veg, keeps well and challenges us to create dishes with 'unusual' produce.

Everything about Riverford gives me warm fuzzies! Their philosophy is inspiring, their service refreshingly great and their fruit and veg divine. The arrival of our weekly delivery stirs up Christmas-type excitement. Everything always looks and tastes fantastic. Our son has been weaned onto solids on Riverford's wonderful tasty fresh organic produce and he now has a delightful non-fussy attitude to his greens. My husband and I have also benefitted from an increase in our fruit and veg consumption.

possum1 possum1 Posted 19 Aug 2006 10:38 AM

My two children have eaten riverford produce and drunk their milk since the day they started on solids. Neither have tasted antibiotics and the eldest is almost three. This as far as I'm concerned this is testament to the high vitamin and mineral content that keeps their immune systems running at 100%. Apart from that it tasted lovely, and the staff that deliver it to your door are a credit to Riverford.

Chris 147 Chris 147 Posted 18 Aug 2006 8:10 PM

Riverford provides and excellent service with good quality fresh delicious veg. The box scheme means we get to try veg we wouldn't normally buy, the website is easy to use and has a huge list of recipes to try. We have been getting deliveries now for a year and would never go back to buying our veg in the supermarket.

Sara 74 Sara 74 Posted 18 Aug 2006 4:28 PM

The fruit and veg are fresh, organic, seasonal and, even better, delivered right to your door. This means you can do your bit for UK growers without having to even leave the house, let alone brave a farmer's market at the crack of dawn. The weekly newsletter is informative and passionate, and everything is beautifully presented and designed, including the website. This may make me shallow, but it's so great to see style and environmental awareness come together in one place. Everyone I have told about Riverford now gets a regular delivery - you can't get higher praise than that!

I discovered this scheme some years ago by noticing the returnable box on a neighbours front doorstep. Iasked her about the produce and she extolled it especially for her three small children. I have had it ever since, which takes me back to my childhood when I ran errands to the greengrocer and saw mud on the root veg!! I concur with all the other rave reviews the I've read,It's not only the box that is good but all the extras that can be ordered as well

As crazy as it sounds, I get excited everytime the box arrives. It's like tasting vegetables for the first time, not the bland yet perfectly formed supermarket rubbish. Living in London, it makes me feel a little bit closer to nature, scrubbing real earth off my carrots!

Camilla 2 Camilla 2 Posted 17 Aug 2006 7:16 PM

Brilliant box. Brilliant quality, the box can be returned for reuse, which is better than recycle, and I really enjoy the newsletter. Not being able to exclude items: it has made me try lots of new stuff, and there were few I would have tried otherwise, BUT there were even fewer I didn't enjoy!

Absolutely brilliant. Love the veg and the service and delivery are excellent. I order a box to share with my parents every week (yes, 26 and still living at home!!) and we find that it works out cheaper than shopping for veg in a supermarket (especially with the free delivery). I love the fact they include vegetables that I would never have thought to have brought in the past. The recipes are also great... have attempted a few myself.

Kirsty 13 Kirsty 13 Posted 17 Aug 2006 3:53 PM

Brilliant brilliant brilliant. Not only wonderful seasonal and tasty organic produce at fantastically reasonable prices, but also the simplicity of buying local british produce that is delivered straight to your door. I love the fact that I can buy food ethically more simply than visiting a supermarket!! Guy Watson's newsletter makes great reading, and it comes with great recipes to help you use the strange vegetables that you often get. The challenge of receiving a box of veg that you then have to find a way of cooking is really satisfying, eliminating the rut that I had previously got into of cooking the same few meals every week. I hope they win this competition and that more franchises are born in which people from all over the country can eat good food grown by their local farmers. Fairtrade for farmers in this country I say!

plotbotherer plotbotherer Posted 17 Aug 2006 11:57 AM

The best thing about Riverford (apart from the excellent service and the informative newsletter) is the fact that the veg is grown primarily for FLAVOUR!!!! This goes against everything that the big supermarkets believe in - their produce tastes of nothing in comparison (and I DID do a taste test!) Also the value for money is incredably good. One week I got a Crown Prince Squash in my box and happened to see one in a more 'upmarket' supermarket so I went and looked at the price... at the supermarket the squash would have cost more than half the price of the box... and the box contained another nine items!! Astounding.

Receiving my box of lovingly grown vegetables is a highlight of my week (and I do like my life!) The thought that goes into what is grown, how and why, is so appreciated. The committment to communicationg with customers goes some of the way to ending the way we take our food for granted. For these and many other reasons I haven't listed, you Riverford workers and co-op producers are all definetly my food heros.

Fantastic products at competitive prices, gets better and better.

I have never been disappointed in anything delivered and my only comment to riverford was sometimes there was too much! I wouldn't dream of signing up for the new Tesco or Sainsbury's box schemes. Riverford has provided us with excellent quality, affordable produce and great service for the past 18 months. I'm horrified that the supermarkets are trying to muscle in on this class act - but hopeful that their noses will be put out of joint by the lack of take-up on their solely commercially driven operation. Riverford is an organisation with principles - and the supermarkets can't touch it!

HH01 HH01 Posted 15 Aug 2006 1:28 PM

Abi 7 Abi 7 Posted 15 Aug 2006 12:24 PM

Have been using Riverford box on and off since they started - as I am a great believer in their whole ethos of trading which includes, of course, the quality of their vegetables but also is the way they treat their staff and co-workers. Sometimes we get a bit fed up with carrots but the scheme is very flexible and some weeks I just have the mini box and others I may change to the summer box or when necessary just cancel it is a simple as that. Customer care is 2nd to none and they always listen and if possible react, to any comments. It is a delight to do have such caring and thoughtful business which just happens to be on our doorstep but their reach has grown and I know that they worry they have grown a bit to big and would like to retract a bit and allow a franchise type set up to fill the gaps.

Lizzy 39 Lizzy 39 Posted 15 Aug 2006 12:02 PM

They have been selling mostly organic meat and other food products for nearly 20 years and because of their commitment have gone from strength to strength - very much a family firm with a firm belief in producing and selling from sustainable/fair trade/animal wellfare sources run by Ben Watson his brother Guy Watson runs the Riverford Veg Box scheme.

5 Stars are not enough to rate Riverford. Why would I ever buy veg from a Supermarket again? We never get bored as the box changes each week. It is a joy to feel earth on the potatoes and see green leaves on the carrots. I had forgotten that vegetables actually had an appetising smell when you prepare them. The first week we used our box I was transported back to my childhood with the smell and taste of fresh veg. I am so happy that I can give this to my kids too. They love getting the box each week and have learnt a lot. Our delivery driver is always cheerful and chatty. Once when we had the wrong box a quick call to Guy meant that this was rectified within minutes! Love it.

StuartG 1 StuartG 1 Posted 03 Aug 2006 10:54 AM

Three months down the line and we are still SO very impressed with the way how every item in the boxes, are carefully picked and packed. From the presentation itself, it is evident 'Riverford' aspires to maintain the ethos in its provision of a high quality selection of seasonal produce to the valued customers. Whoever says fruit and vegetables are boring should certainly come and check them out because his/her faith as well as taste buds would undoubtedly be restored! From what we have already eaten, 'tasty' and 'lively' come to mind as opposed to the 'bland' and 'lifeless' display of fruit and vegetables- 'imitation' in comparison with the 100% pure and genuine 'riverford' article!! 'Riverford' produce also inspires you to be creative and colourful, an essential rather than an additive for any level of culinary skill- so 'thanks' for making it possible for us to feed from the harvest that was birthed from the Watson vision- long may the seed continue for many acres in the land! The enthusiasm and X-citement that factor behind Riverford is WOW!

Two things made me change to using a box scheme - reading 'Shopped' by Joanna Blythman, a book which finally convinced me that supermarkets are totally unethical in all aspects of their business (am I allowed to call them 'evil'?!), and having my second child/working from home which meant I could change my shopping habits. I can't even remember how we found out about Riverford but it is the only box scheme we have tried and would not change to anyone else! My family's eating habits have totally changed, ready meals are a thing of the past, and I love the opportunity to try new things. Previously, I went out of my way to avoid buying cabbage and wouldn't have known what to do with Swiss Chard - Riverford has enlightened me and we can't get enough of such veggies. I look forward to seeing what's in the box every week and then plan meals around it; sorry Delia, Jamie, Gordon et al, Riverford's website with its extensive library of recipes is the first place I turn to for inspiration. Almost a year on from placing my first order, I feel ever so slightly morally superior - I'm doing my bit to support the UK farming industry, am putting less business the way of supermarkets (okay, I still go there for basics), and am delighted that my children are eating the best quality produce, including my baby's very first tastes of food. I continually extol Riverford's virtues to friends, and I can thoroughly recommend wedding receptions as ideal opp

Efficent, informative, friendly and they have a great web site full of receipes, information and hints. They always tell you what is going to be in the boxes and bend over backwards to help with any queries or changes you want. They have totally converted my family to organic food and my daughter feels like it is xmas every week when the box arrives she is dying to try anything and it has increased her taste for vegtables tenfold. I have also recommended them to several of my friends and family who now take the boxes. Keep up the good work and hopefully you will get the recognition you deserve.

My whole family looks foward to unpacking the box on a Friday. Foos is really fresh, a 110% better than any supermarket. You also get to try different veggies that you don't get in supermarkets and good prices. I will never again buy veg from a supermarket.

toni 1 toni 1 Posted 29 Jul 2006 8:51 PM

It may be that the food is organic but I doubt it cos supermarket organic food doesn't taste this good. Or it may be that they use varieties that taste nicer but don't have as long a shelf life because they can get produce to their customers so quickly. Whatever the reason Riverford fruit and veg tastes fantastic. Some of the things we receive we would never buy from the supermarket mostly because of cost or they don't sell them. Add to this the befits of guilt free shopping, an improvement in my cooking and not having to go to the supermarket any more... Why would you want to shop any other way?

Have been using Riverford for over a year and as well as enjoying really fresh and tasty vegetables, we have also tried new ones that I had never bought before. My children are always the first to rummage through the box to see what has come and are taking an interest in how to cook the vegetables, which they are always happy to try. Long may Riverford's success continue.

My children and I love Fridays. Our brown boxes arrive spilling over with beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables. They have learnt the difference organic means to our bodies and our countryside through the best way possible - eating, cooking and sharing. The box scheme has revolutionised how and what we cook.

Riverford Organic fruit and veg are beautifully fresh and brimming with flavour. They taste and smell as they should. Using Riverford has encourage my family to try new fruits and vegetables.

The produce is fresher than in the supermarket shelves and tastes delicious. Having visited the farm and kitchens I'm very impressed with quality of produce and enthusiasem but they don't pressure you to join the box scheme. I heard of it by word of mouth from friends and have passed this on myself to several others. The best recommendation possible. Its priced no more than supermarkets and is delivered fresh to your door. Plus you can order extras like organic milk, eggs, cream, wine.

After more than 50 years on this planet I have only now experienced the meaning of 'you are what you eat'. Well done Riverford for providing such good food and a consequent improvement in my feeling of wellbeing. The mundane stuff like value for money and service are excellent too.

It is good to eat seasonally and appreciate the changing seasons through fresh veggies. The service is always first class. Silly to get excited by a box of veg, but like the others I do!

Riverford shows that you can compete with big established supermarkets. I like their minimal packing, flexibility, reliability and last but not least great relatively local products.Even my kids see the difference and my older son said he loves to see the dirt on the carrots and potatoes as they look more real than in the supermarket!

I can only add my voice to the many reviews I have read! It may sound sad but the quality of the fruit and vegetables arriving on my doorstep every Friday has the whole family excited with anticipation! We have also learnt to cook new and unusual vegetables. I get a thrill handling the squeaky-fresh vegetables - they seem just as if you have cut them from your own garden. I truly beleive the whole family is much healthier since we have been eating organic. It is also a good feeling to be part of a "movement" to encourage home grown, and ecologically conscious food production and distribution. Well done to all involved in this box scheme!

Have been a Riverford customer for a good while now. Thrilled to bits with the quality, variety, value for money. As a childminder I am proud to be able to provide good healthy meals for the my children and the children I care for. I make them try a new vegetable whenever the box arrives. Keep up the good work Guy and family and the distributors also offer excellent service. Thanks Liz and Gilbert McPherson.

My family and I have used Riverford for some time now - I first began to seriously commit to eating organic food when pregant with my first child (now 3yrs old), but found the supermarket produce overpriced and not so great. My friend (and stepdaughter's mum) suggested we try a box scheme. It has been fantastic! The online ordering and free delivery is perfect for busy families, and using the payment service is very convenient. I admire the ethos behind Riverford, and enjoy reading Guy Watson's missive with each box. I have never been disappointed, and am sure that my son's varied diet and love of fruit and vegetables has been furthered by Riverford's excellent produce. My 6 month old daughter is enjoying the pureed delights of the boxes now too! I have recommended them to friends who have been equally satisfied. Thank you Riverford - you are an essential part of my family life!

The best thing that happened was receiving an introductory leaflet through my door. I love getting the box of great tasting, incredibly fresh veggies every week. It inspires me to cook different dishes because the box contains vegetables that I would not normally buy. Thank you Riverford.

Riverford is a dream come true! I love waking up on Saturday mornings to find a box full of tasty and seasonal vegetables. I truly belive that Riverford offers excellent value for money, so much cheaper than the big supermarket chains "organic" offerings, and much better produce too.

Ali 82 Ali 82 Posted 20 Jul 2006 7:57 PM

I look forward to receiving my box every week which comes with helpful recipes and instructions and a guide as to what new produce is in stock. The quality is of a high standard, always fresh and keeps a lot longer than supermarket produce. Very impressed with the service which never lets me down

At last.... vegetables that taste fantastic- not like the bland supermarket alternatives. I highly rate my local distributor Simon Harrop who is always helpful and friendly and really knows his onions!

I'm vegan and although a one-person household I usually get through a medium or large boxful a week. The veg and fruit stay fresh (with a bit of planning) until the next box is due. Ridiculous to get excited at unpacking the new box - but I do. Reliable service too.

Ioan_D Ioan_D Posted 19 Jul 2006 1:26 PM

The freshest organic fruit & veg delivered to my door. Great selection and always great quality. Riverford are also very flexible allowing customers the option to change their orders very easily.

Flo99 Flo99 Posted 19 Jul 2006 9:53 AM

I agree with Bellaclarabelle! It is also incredibly easy to order online and amend your order, plus you don't have to pay up front - a real bonus!

Fresh and exciting vegtables delivered to your door. Were now trying new veg each week - something we would probably never do if shopping in local supermarket. Always good quality and you can really taste the difference. I have a 9 month old daughter and knowing that i am makeing her first foods with great produce is fantastic

em 7 em 7 Posted 17 Jul 2006 3:23 PM

The quality and service is exceptional and the vegetables are always fresh and varied. Decisions, for example, for suppliers seem to be made with great thought about trading ethics, polution and the environment as well as the customers needs. Even though the company is expanding the personal touch is not lost and receiving the box is a real treat. The fruit in particular is always delicous.

Meg 2 Meg 2 Posted 17 Jul 2006 1:18 PM

The food is of a very high quality and as in the past we used to eat the same vegetables every week now it is very varied. Brought back the joy into cooking! As a mom of 2 kids under 3 I can thoroughly recommend Riverford as both our children love it when the boxes are delivered and we go through each veg & fruit and name them. Also they eat practically every vegatable with kohlrabi being the big favorite at the moment. Also like to say a big thank you to Trevor Wood, our local ditributor!

Dutchie 1 Dutchie 1 Posted 17 Jul 2006 11:09 AM

The products are very high quality, the service exceptional. Nothing is too much effort, when we had a problem it was sorted immediately, no quibble. We are very impressed, it tastes so much better than supermarket produce. Try it, you'll love it.

Guy Watson and family ensure that they provide quality organic fruit and vegetables direct to your door with a strong commitment to helping other farmers around the country set up similar box schemes so that produce has to travel as little as possible. They always ensure they involve their customers in their business and regularly ask for feedback. All-in-all they are an ethical business providing top quality, good value fresh produce and deserve recognition for the good they doing locally and nationally.

We have been using Riverford for nearly a year now and it is by far the best organic box scheme I know. Quality is superb, the price is good, service is excellent. I know I can be a tough customer and Riverford simply excels in all areas! I look forward to Saturday mornings when our box arrives.

EleanorH EleanorH Posted 15 Jul 2006 9:33 AM

Not only the fruit and vegetables are excellent, but the website is quick and easy to navigate, with good recipes and a newsletter which is sometimes to do with Riverford, and occasionally a bit more political. I also rate my local distributor, Ged Campbell, as being of the highest quality standard in his work with Riverford in our area.

Bridget 2 Bridget 2 Posted 14 Jul 2006 1:15 PM

Riverford provide excellent quality organic fruit & veg. The produce is fresh, lasts the week (unlike supermarket produce)and is delivered timeously by our local service distributor. On the one occasion that I had a complaint, the matter was dealt with quickly and effectively (what a pleasant change from most other 'so-called' service providers in the UK!). Thank you Riverford!

High quality organic vegetables with high quality taste that last much longer than any shop brought varieties. All that and service with a smile. What more could any family ask for! I have been getting them for a year now and haven't looked back!

We get a box of veg every week and always look forward to the delivery! It means we try some vegetables we might not have otherwise, and it's as local and in-season as possible which is great.

I always look forward to my fortnightly delivery. I check the website the previous Friday to see what vegetables will be in the box and then select recipes accordingly. Excellent quality, value for money and friendly service.

Riverford is outstanding in quality, service and value for money. Riverford is also one of those rare animals - a company with a conscience - hurrah! and more power to you! We have lots of lovely organic fruit and veg delivered to us in Bristol every week and we love it! But we are moving to Wales soon and so will miss it very very much!

KooKoo KooKoo Posted 11 Jul 2006 3:30 PM

They provide a weekly delivery of organic fruit and vegetables throughout the south of England. They strive to fill the boxes with high quality products that taste fantastic. I have been far more adventuous in the kitchen using unuasual ingredients found in my box which have become family favourites. Locally in Devon they have a 'field kitchen' which is a restautant serving food grown on their co-operative organic farms. Together with a farm shop and cafe which serves excellent food of an extremely high standard.

twizzle 1 twizzle 1 Posted 11 Jul 2006 12:19 PM

We have a veggie box delivered every two weeks. It always contains something different which makes us try vegetables that we probably would not buy. A great thing is that being organic the veg tastes wonderful.

concorde1 concorde1 Posted 07 Jul 2006 9:14 PM

We recieve high quality organic vegetables, we have never had any problems with the deliveries or customer service. We feel that the fruit and veg taste better, last longer and are much better value for money than any superstore or local shop.

friordan friordan Posted 04 Jul 2006 5:03 PM

They grow some great variaties of fruit & veg and it all feels like a labour of love. Its a great place to visit.

lightning fork lightning fork Posted 03 Jul 2006 9:35 PM

The vegetables are always fresh, lovingly packed and delivered with a smile. They offer excellent value for money and include a list of what is in the box (quite a few box schemes don't do this and some obscure fruit and veg are hard to identify - for me anyway!!) as well as recipe suggestions for the box contents and a newsletter. The best products and service I've seen in a long time.
