What more can I say than that I agree with every single review about Kim and his gorgeous butchery. My wife and I have gone to him for about 4 years now and no visit from my parents from South Africa or my wife's parents from Australia is complete without taking them for a trip to Kim's. It really is about the top-knotch goods he sells, the cooking tips, the banter, the atmosphere and lots more that one can't quite pin down but his place is just SPECIAL! The queues can be long - for a good reason - he give each person his full attention and does any number of requests, he's a legend! Rock on, Kim!

The big problem with buying meat from Kim is that you'll never ever ever go back to supermarket meat again - worth the risk? Most definitely yes.

Kim knows what he's talking about. His meat is excellent and he's the best butcher in London. You're not just standing in a queue, you're watching a virtuoso performance of knife skills! He's sweet and friendly and he doesn't mind ordering something random for you - even when I just wanted two lambs' hearts, he got them in specially. I recommend his black pudding and pies, and he sold me the best piece of pork I've ever eaten in this country.

One of a kind. Shop at Kim's and you'll never go back to supermarket meat. He'll help you choose what you need, hand cut it for you and even offers tips on how to cook it. He won't sell you a steak until it's been hung until it's almost black, has the best bacon in south London and makes his own ham and sausages. You might have to queue a bit, but the atmosphere in the shop is always relaxed and friendly. He and his son Jake make a mean cup of coffee too and are always up for a chat on the rare occasions that the shop is quiet. Not just the best butchers around, one of the best shops, full stop.

A FINE butcher, GORGEOUS meat! - I never had a bad bit. - The bacon is exquisite. - If I ever miss his opening hours and have to buy bacon anywhere else it just isn't worth the effort. - I'd rather be vegetarian than go elsewhere! Great meat, great services, great laughs, great big queue with a great big wait usually! - but WELL worth it for those dry pluck ducks and beautifully well hung beef. (Never mind the Jamie Oliver Sainsburys 28 day hung beef nonsense - It's NONSENSE!) Go to Senôr Libretto's and taste the REAL thing! - Family run small places often struggle against the might of Supermarkets but They can't hold a candle to this man - He'll always beat them as long as people want the finest meats on their table at a good price to boot! Long live Don Kim!

Don't forget Kim's home-cooked ham--fantastic. And it's always worth asking if there's something special in.

A trip to Librettos the butcher and his mysterious daughters (I haven't dared ask), is always a highlight of the weekend. The meat never fails to impress, particularly if you follow Kim's advice and go easy on the cooking. Even the humble chicken tastes in a different league to premium supermarket offerings. The shop is an asset to the area without a doubt. I just wish it was open in the evenings during the week, so I could go more often.

It's the only place I honestly don't mind queuing, the banter and meat are worth the wait. Kim and Jake are warming to everyone, the quality exceptional and very rare tofind, they never compromise. They have to stop me buying everything. A honest local food hero.

Brilliant service - top class local butcher who goes the extra mile to make sure his customers are getting the very best.

Since discovering this place, we no longer buy any meat from the supermarket. I now understand about meat, how to cook it and even to experiment with different cuts. This is all down to Kim and the service he provides. He really has converted me. He genuinely is a food hero in my opinion.

This is the best meat I have ever had (including Lidgates). The pork shoulder (worth the wait and Kim's grumbles) is off the scale good. For god's sake don't ask if it is organic! The service is brilliant and Kim is never grumpy and if its quiet there may be a cup of coffee. Is there anywhere like this?

Any butcher who won't sell you something because it is not sufficently well hung for your taste, and will cut the legs of 4 lambs to get one the right size and weight for you is someone to treasure.

Excellent quality produce, reasonably prices and service with a smile.

Fantastic meat, genorously cut and you can even get tips on the best way to cook it! And their cider is good too!

This is a fantastic shop. A proper old fashioned family butcher's shop. Don't tell anyone.

Kinchy Kinchy Posted 23 Jul 2006 9:03 PM

Make sure you've got plenty of time - but its always worth the wait and the concversation is good. The quality of the food - especially the home made sausages and ham - is exceptional.

Haven't bought meat from a supermarket since discovering the cracking range of produce that Kim has on offer. Great service and matching sense of humour.

Kim and his son Jake always give you a warm welcome, no matter how busy they are. This isn't a place for a quick visit, but the quality of the meat and the quality of the conversation make you want to stay a while! They only sell top quality meat and produce that they would eat themselves. Thoroughly recommended.
