Howbarrow Organic Farm

Selling: Meats, Fruit & Veg

Pity the poor folk outside Cumbria and North Lancs who have to rely on a box scheme only half as good as that of Howbarrow Organic Farm. Luckily farmers Paul Hughes and Julia Sayburn's superlative produce is also available online and in the farm shop. Own grown vegetables and fruit are excellent, but the real pleasure is the store's scope. From organic wines to herbal remedies and forgotten herbs like hyssop, woodruff, or burnett, Howbarrow makes for inspiring shopping.

The cartmel valley is a wonderful place to live. It's made especially marvellous by having a michelin starred restaurant in our village and by Howbarrow Farm. The farm shop is great - lowther chickens, fish from hawkshead, organic beers and wines, milk, bread, and loads of dry stuff. Veg is good - delighted that Paul and Julia have an eye to air miles even though this reduces choice at some seasons. Best of all is the superb salad - bags freshly picked in the tunnels - fantastic variety of leaves, herbs and flowers - and we can walk there! Paradise!
