View all reviews (21)The food is always beautiful. The menus have maps and details of where the food comes from, so you feel as if you know exactly what you are eating. The 'length of Lancashire cheeseboard' has cheeses fro within a 10 mile radius, presented with a leaflet giving you details of age and origins for each cheese.
This is virtually our 'local' - always excellent food with friendly, efficient service. Love the fact that local produce is used wherever possible.
Drove 40 miles through heavy rain today, worth the effort, had the hotpot & red cabbage, lovely
We love this pub. The food is great, staff friendly and the fact that is it non smoking is a joy. My husband and I have taken our daughter there since she was born and they are baby friendly too, which is always great for families. I totally disagree with the reviews that have highlighted poor service. There can be a waiting time, but I appreciate that this means my food is cooked to order and by someone who cares about food. We like to sit and enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace and this is a pub that we like to do that in. Being a southerner by birth it has been great to discover the secrets of Lancashire cooking. I've even been known to attempt to recreate some of their dishes at home. Love it.
Best pub food in the world ! All local produce, prepared with care. Visit soon

Excellent family pub with a great range of fresh food, which caters for all age ranges. Would definatly recommend.
The staff are friendly and always give you a warm welcome. The food is mouth-watering tasty, and is well worth waiting for, as it is always freshly prepared. The gastro-pub also promotes local produce to create its wonderful dishes.
The Three Fishes really does live up to its reputation of being one of the best pubs in the country! The food is of an outstanding standard and even better all ingredients used come from local producers. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and always make every member of the family, especially the children, have an enjoyazble time! It is true to say that The Three Fishes truly deserves to be Local Hero 2006
The Fishes is a great all round experience. The menu is made up of many local dishes with local produce used. The food is great and the service casual and friendly which works really well. The wine list is huge and brilliant for a pub as is the unique beer menu. I reccomend the pate trust me it is like nothing you have tasted before, and why not wash this down with a cherry beer or a local cask ale.To top it all off you can have a cheese board with 10 lancashire chesses on. The fishes should be on your list for 10 things you do before you die .
The selection of locally sourced 'real' food is great. As a vegetarian its a bit limited but always nice - but I would love to try something new on my next visit! The only thing that lets it down is its poor service. You wait an age between courses and we always have to ask for something that staff have forgotten. If they got that right it would be 5 stars all the way!
Went last night, the food was to die for, i had the ribs with treacle and develled black peas, followed by the steak pudding, without a doubt it is the finest food in lancashire, more to the point 99.9% of the food is locally sourced, good luck three fishes, see you soon.
I could not disagree more with the negative review on this place. The food is absolutely outstanding and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly; the service is excellent. I regularly travel up from Somerset to see my parents and always insist on going there for lunch - it's well worth the 500 mile round trip.
Superb Food Superb Service and most imporantly a suerb pub environment. We go to the fishes regulary both to dine and to have a drink and in my opinion it is one of the most impressive pubs in the region we are extremely lucky to have it so close! The staff are always attentive and there to describe with passion both the food and drink that they serve. The Fishes is not being Over hyped it is simply a fantastic place to eat and meet friends!!
Been to 3 fishes many times after being a northcote regular for years. The restaurant is excellent reasonably priced. But the best thing is the locality of the produce. These are the same producers we meet at farmers markets all over the northwest.
This place is great, we live a good 25 miles away and its worth the drive for the food is wonderfull. The duck on toast starter is to die for! Lovely surroundings and friendly staff. The feel is relaxed and not too stuffy!
I disagree that Three Fishes is overrated. We go regularly - it's a great favourite with both us and our children. The children's menu is superb. All the food is of fabulous quality and it's lovely to know the provenance of the ingredients.
Its a local restaurant that's had national recognition for the quality of its food. Its menu is crafted around local ingredients, from the Lancashire curd, through to the lamb in the hotpot and the potted shrimps from Morcambe. Its an outstanding menu that they refresh regularly. Front of house is friendly without being overbearing. We love it there! Check it out on: www.thethreefishes.com
I work for the same company and I know the passion that is involved in making this pub a success, the ethos is simple, the best quality local ingredients cooked by passionate chefs and served by knowledgable front of house staff.
