Loch Fyne Sea Food Shop

Fishmonger Restaurant

Selling: Fish & Shellfish

The Loch Fyne empire may now include a UK restaurant chain plus the original Oyster Bar at Cairndow, but the adjacent Sea Food Shop sells some belting produce. The business farms its own mussels and oysters, has a smokery for salmon and other foods, and what it doesn't grow it sources with care (Shetland sea trout for example).

Delicious food, delicious view and delicious atmosphere. The Oyster Bar and Loch Fyne Farm Shop are the very best of the Highlands.

Celebrating their 30th anniversary, Loch Fyne Oysters is an enterprising company had contributed to the local economy, and is a welcome spot for shopping and dining when visiting this part of the Highlands. At their base in Argyll, Scotland, Loch Fyne Oysters rear their own oysters and mussels and run a traditional smokehouse, smoking and curing fish using methods handed down over the years. Other fish and shellfish are sourced from local day-boats and from independent fish farms working to Organic or Freedom Food standards. Loch Fyne also sells a range of meat products, which includes beef, lamb, pork and lamb marketed under the brand name ‘Glen Fyne’. In 2007, they launched their Loch Fyne Larder range – a collection of fresh chilled pates, soups, fishcakes and ready-made meals, using Loch Fyne ingredients, to be enjoyed at home. They are available to buy online and in selected retailers. Also at their base at Cairndow is a farm shop and Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, the genesis behind the Loch Fyne Restaurant group, owned by Greene King with whom Loch Fyne Oysters have both supply and licence agreements in place. Loch Fyne products are available in retail and foodservice throughout the UK and internationally, in the farm shop and online at www.lochfyne.com and on the menu at Loch Fyne restaurants. With a 135 strong workforce, Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd has been employee owned since 2003.

Our annual visit to Dunoon always includes a family meal at Loch Fyne - it's been our tradition for years! The children love the fresh mussels & we always purchase other treats from the shop to enjoy back at the cottage. - We'll be there next week, and we can't wait!!

LFO is a leading example of how Argyll can match any where else in the world for sustainable, socio-economical, environmentally sustainable and healthy food. It epitomises the slow food movement and is where you can genuinly eat the view!

We were impressed by the work ethics, genuine sense of customer service & respect of nature. All staff are conscious of the importance of good quality ingredients & only offer the best to customers - while still being competitively priced. There are 3 types of salmon: fresh, smoked for 12 hours & smoked for at least 24 hours. The last category is simply amazing & is likely to beat any salmon you've ever tasted!!!

The wonderfully friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff make shoping or simply browsing here a pleasure (though how you can browse and not be tempted to buy the freshest of local produce, fish and seafood I simply don't know!). I always come away from The Loch Fyne Sea Food Shop planning my next visit!

I discovered Loch Fyne by visting the Cairndow Oyster bar about thirteen years ago when I started courting my now wife. I was blown away by the freshnesss and quality of the seafood and LF helped us discover our mutual love for oysters. At Christmas and other special days we order their smoked salmon, perhaps some Bradan Rost, and some of their other wonderful produce. Their smoked mussels are always a crowd pleaser, simply served on a blini with a thin slice of cucumber and a dollop of creme fraiche. We order via telephone and their service and delivery is impeccable and punctual. I admire the company's structure on an employee ownership basis and the values of sustainability and good husbandry. Whenever in Glasgow seeing the in-laws we are always keen to visit the Cairndow Oyster bar and sample their assiete de fruit de mer followed by a drive up the loch to Inverary.
